Am I still early releasing?

My entire golf "career" I've been battling an early release, probably due to my decades of playing tennis resulting in a dominant right side. I saw Anika Sorenstam on the Golf Channel recently recommending that to take the right hand out of the swing, place its index finger on top of the handle. This advice was in the context of bunker shots, but I'm practicing this on full shots as well, and it does feel like I'm holding off the release a lot more, but I don't think I'm quite there yet. What do you think:

There's no way you will get back to the ball here if you didn't early release. Weak left hand grip which is a good receipt for doing what you're doing now - and a cupped left wrist going up and coming back down again which weakens it even more and keeps the face wide open unless you flip it.

Thanks for the feedback. A "two-knuckles" grip is weak? Or is it possible my right index finger is covering up my left grip somewhat, making it hard to tell what it is?

 

I don't know exactly what a cupped wrist is, so I'll do some research on that.

I mostly agree with lefthook. The club face is just open pretty much the whole way. Without flipping you'll never hit it on the face. Your wrists are very active and in the incorrect manner.

 

Really recommend taking a lesson. I fear you'll do more harm than good, working on these things without proper direction and coaching. Monte is affordable and very good at simplifying things.

 

The release is a result. This means you need to work on your grip, setup, posture, takeaway and top position to have a better release. Lot of little adjustments can be made before you even get waist high on the takeaway.

I actually think you're close and if you finished your turn, so your rear knee and chest are facing the target, that would allow you to lag a little more and let SOFT HANDS just pass through the hitting area without being active. I mean, it won't be a perfect golf swing but try that and fine tune. On an actual golf ball :)
