2020 Sun Mountain 2.5+

Anyone try out the new Sun Mountain 2.5+? Looks like it has a new top compared to last years model and I’m looking for a carry bag as I’m starting to walk more and my Sun Mountain 4.5 14 way is a little on the larger sides.

I had a 3.5 with the same top as the 2020 2.5, I much prefer the 2018-2019 2.5.

Mostly cosmetic, I find the look of the new lift handle as well as where the legs connect to be uglier (a little too modern looking). Otherwise they appear to be the same bag.

 

I currently have a 2019 2.5 and a 2017 PING 4 Series. The 2.5 rarely gets used, will probably sell it.

Where have you seen the 2020 model? Very curious as to what color options will be offered for next year.

Why the Ping over the SM2.5, just on weight the SM must be at least 2 lb. lighter. I had a 2017 Hoofer which I dumped after 2 rounds, the club tangle drove me crazy, any issue with that on the Series 4?

I've actually been walking more lately so have brought the 2.5+ back out and really liking it. When I'm in a 50:50 walk:ride mode I prefer the 4 Series for the extra pockets. Club tangle with the PING is not an issue when riding, or if you pull your club with the bag vertical (ie, legs not extended). If I'm able to keep walking the majority of my rounds I'll stick with the 2.5+. I'm finding that the 2 less lbs is noticeable even though the 4 Series does carry with better balance.

Dallas Golf is selling the 2019 2.5+ for $139.99 less 15% Black Friday discount, 3 color choices available. Looking at the top and dividers, I actually like the 2019 better than the new 2020. Always liked how SM has the middle divider sloping on a downward angle, something they've changed on the 2020.

That's a great deal. I've been through a lot of bags lately and have decided to go with the 2019 2.5+ as my only bag moving forward. It beat out the 3.5LS, Hoofer, 4 Series, and Flextech Lite. It's so light but effectively has more room than the others since the base doesn't flex and bind up the bottom of the bag. I carry very little stuff, so I prefer the fewer pockets. Having extra, empty pockets bothers me. I just throw a Titleist wrench pouch in the main ball pocket to hold my tees, pitchmark tool, and a few loose balls. Likewise, I don't wear a glove, so don't need velcro patches all over the bag.

Ive been kicking around the idea of picking up a 2.5 but Im having a hard time justifying the extra $$$ over a Maxfli, Top-Flite or a Ping Moonlite. $50-$100 vs almost $200.

I ended up buying a 2020 2.5+ a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! I replaced the x-strap with the EZfit from my 4.5 14 way for the extra padding. The bag is noticeably lighter and there is still enough room to carry everything I need. I also used it for the first time in a cart on sunday and it actually stayed put better than my 4.5 for whatever reason. All in all extremely happy with the purchase and already sold the 4.5 14-way!

^ I've gone back to the original x-straps that came with the 2.5+ after having an ez-fit on it. I never could get the ez-fit adjusted so the bag sat at a 15*-20* angle. I've found that the x-straps balance the bag better when carrying. At first the x-straps seem flimsy, but they are quite padded for their size and the slimness/contour shape makes them seem to fit around the shoulders better. They also break in nicely after a few rounds.
