Upgrading to Garmin S20 GPS watch?

Hi Everyone,

 

I am currently using the Garmin S10 GPS watch which i love especially the fact the distances are so accurate I have been using it since it released about 16 months ago i think! As the S20 has just come into the market I am not sure its worth the extra money to upgrade? do i really need to ? has anyone like myself had the S10 then upgraded to the S20? what was your experience?

I think the 20 was out before the 10. I have the S20 and it’s great for what I use it for (front/middle/back, distance to hazards, measuring shots) pretty sure the S10 does all that as well. The shot tracking feature didn’t impress me when I tried it. Depending on what you’re looking for, I’d say you are good with your current S10.

Yes, S10 does the same front, middle and back but sometimes they change the PIN so i have no option to make amendments I know the S20 allows you to change the pin position. But honestly it doesn't bother me I am 7 handicapper I can usually figure out the distance :)

 

I also have layup and distance to hazard and distance to clear ! I am under the impression the S20 only has two new features that my S10 doesn't have 1. Pin position change and 2. club selection to the hole. or i might be wrong lol

I think the biggest differences in the s20 is:

1) Fitness tracking and sleep monitoring features - if you don't have any interest, then I wouldn't worry

2) smart notifications - not something I care about when actually playing golf, more likely a deciding point if you plan to where it all the time.

 

Yes it also has the autoshot but I find that fairly useless.

I should have saved the money and got the S10, for what I use it for. Your right, the accuracy is amazing, but so is the battery life. The only other one I would consider is the G8 for the bigger screen.

Here, the S20s are $150 Can.$ right now.
