Reduced tapper midsize grip list

Hi guys,

do you know any reduced tapper midsize grip that comes less than 53g?

the lowest I’ve seen it’s been 57g from Lamkin. Golf pride ones are around 65g :(

You can take any MID size grip you want, and make a asymmetrical BU to straiten out the taper.

The weight of the tape needed is 4.5 grams if we use BU tape that adds 0.015 for each layer (4 layers to MID)

Winn midsize is 50g, build up bottom hand. They even have a Lite model that is 23g. Why do you want a grip less than 53g? If it is for SW purposes, just add lead tape or a tip weight.

Total weight is #2 in importance, and if we wants to please the SW scale we violate that big time, adding first a heavy grip, and then compensate the return value by adding even more weight. Balance has always been lower in importance compared to total weight, and the return value from a SW scale is NOT a scientific measurement of resistance att all, so why suggest this? If he goes by a GolfPride of 65 grams, he can expect a return value from the scale who fools him to add 4 to 5 grams head weight, depending on club, that moves us 16-17 grams above his 53 gram grip weight limit.....its not a good idea if he knows his limits for total weight.

Adding lead to the head would then add more to the total weight :)

 

I actually got the Winn Midsize grip here somewhere. I’m gona give it a try and build it up. Thanks for the suggestions.

My bad, had it backwards. I was thinking of you wanted something to play super head heavy and keep grip end light. Didn't think of the option of keeping it light overall.

As club fitters we should always think in the order of priority where TOTAL weight is more important than balance.

If the player himself did not think like this, and added the 65 grams grip, and on top of that let himself be fooled by the return value of the SW scale and added 4-5 grams head weight, we ended up exactly the same place as a player who goes from a 110 grams shaft to a 130 gram shaft (same BP). Both total wgt and influence for actual SW value would be spot on the same, and we should know that a 130 gram shaft is not a option for a player who fits 110 grams. Focus on return values from the SW scale has fooled way to many, the same has ignorance of total weight as the #2 most important fitting parameter.

I have gone with the Winn DriTac midsize and built up tapes and created a nice thickness without being worry about weight as the winn grip is light enough.
