Adding lead tape to blade old ping putter, where to add it and shall I do it myself?

Hello!

I am a beginner golfer here who is still learning things about this beautiful game.

Thing is I play with an old Ping Cushin 3 putter and my fitter/teacher helped me to cut the putter shaft from 35 to 33. I feel

it more comfortable, but I feel the club face is REALLY light.

I have done some research and many suggest adding lead tape. I can get it easily on a tennis store near me, but I was wondering two things:

1) Is adding lead tape something I shall ask the fitter to do for me or can I do it by myself? (in order to avoid screwing up the club)

2) Where do you recommend adding the lead tape? I do not want to screw up and have an unbalanced putter.

You can surely do it yourself, just peel the backing and stick it on lol. Usual locations are gonna be long strips across the sole of the putter, which will evenly distribute the added weight. Or smaller strips layed into the cavity. This will concentrate more mass directly behind the ball, possibly reducing the effective MOI (forgiveness) but likely not a noticeable amount. No worries, it can always be peeled off and you just have some sticky stuff to remove, no damage to the putter.
