How accurate are the swing speed radars?

Superspeed went to the PRGR and it was within 1 - 3 mph of ball speed when I tested with driver vs GC Quad.

That said, I had a really odd session last night at the range where the ball speeds just seemed super off (smash was consistently in the 1.3s).  Granted they were the worst rangeballs ever, but it was a bit demoralizing.

i mean, doppler radar is like 80 years old tech... if it works, it works. 🤷‍♂️

on a more serious note, have you tested the yupiteru against a high-end launch monitor like trackman?

Lol it’s 100 dollars delivered it would be like comparing an elephant with a chair, utterly irrelevant and pointless.

BUT I can tell you I’ve found it very consistent swing to swing against itself, compared to where I’ve struggled with the SSR.

it seems the SSR does one thing and it does it well. measurements i took were usually within a couple of mph of trackman. it's also about $100.

from what you describe, it sounds like the yupiteru is not a good launch monitor. but if you want to use it to track the progression of your swing speed, go for it.

I would not describe the Yupiteru as a launch monitor at all.
It is however a very consistent club and ball speed measuring device.

And I and many others in this thread have struggled to get consistent club speed readings on SSR.

My experience with PRGR

Speedstick green max 131

Speedstick blue max 125

Speedstick red max 120

Driver max no ball 120

Driver max with ball 115

Skytrak Driver max 114

Have not used PRGR on the range or GC yet.

Definitely feel that my backswing is shorter with a ball than without. I feel that I am slowly getting closer to swinging the same with and without a ball.

All of these devices for measuring swings without a ball cost less than a new driver.  Which is the most accurate? SSR, PRGR, Swing Caddy?

There is also the Garmin G80 if you like to kill two birds with one stone.  It is reliable at picking up shots but if you are really fast, it seems to cap out.  It also measures practice swings now, thought that also currently caps out at a number that for most, is high enough where it won't be a problem.

Swing hard in case you hit it!

One thing I would call out for you is that Trackman and some other launch monitors measure different things.  For instance a GCquad measure the speed of the face, whereas trackman is measuring the center of mass of the driver.  That means is the toe is closing it is moving faster than the center of the head.  As a result, you generally will see slightly lower swing speeds on a trackman over some other camera bases systems.
