0311XP vs 919HM

There has to be a WRX member who has put these head to head. Currently have:

Z585 (don't like)

919 HM (LIKE)

G410 (LIKE)

G710 (ASSUME I'LL LIKE)

 

Had the Gen 3 but was presented an offer I couldn't refuse. I know about loft jacking (blah,blah,blah) just wondered if I'm the only club HO whose comparing these. My thoughts are the G710 or HM will be bang for buck winner but would love to hear opinions with evidence.

I had the G400, went to the G410 and now I game the 0311XF, all with the Pro Modus Tour 120 shaft in stiff.. Assuming the 0311XP is similar to the XF in looks and distance, I'd probably game the 0311XP. I loved everything about the G410 but I felt like the 0311XF were more forgiving than the G410's. Even on mishits, the ball still went very far. I tell everyone, with the 0311XF, I feel like the ball just wants to find the fairway or the green. With the G410, not so much. I know the 0311XF, 0311XP are game improvement irons, but personally, I would classify the G710 as a super game improvement iron.

Again, I have not hit the 0311XP in the Gen3 irons, but aside from feel, I have to assume they play like the 0311XF. Good luck and I'd love to know what you think of the G410's!

Don't forget about the 0211. I did a side by side against the 710, 919hmp and 790 and the 0211 was the clear winner, in feel, dispersion, and forgiveness. The 0211 and the P790 were neck and neck in distance which was better than any of the Ping irons.

Can you compare the blade length of the 0211 to them? Top line?

I have played G400 and G700 irons (along with Big Bertha OS, Cobra F9, Epic Irons, P790, Titleist AP1, and Callaway Apex) as well as owning a set of Mizuno Hot Metals irons. I also tried out the PXG Gen2 XF and the new Cobra Forged Tec during a fitting at Club Champion. The Mizuno irons were in my opinion were garbage. Distance about 1/2 club short and dispersion was all over the place. I really wanted to like them and really disappointed that they did not perform better, but I would honestly game any of the other irons listed above. I still have two JPX 900 hybrids in my bag that I love so no Mizuno hate.

So.... What's in the bag?

Apex 19 is currently in the bag. I am not looking for a magic set of irons, just really like to try things out. Sometimes being left handed means have to buy to try.

I've narrowed it down quite a bit but may not see a golf course for a while in Central Ohio. Have P790 and G710. We shall see as most OEMS aren't building clubs currently.

Between the Ping G700 and the PXG 0311 XF Gen 2, which did you prefer? If you can remember, which of the clubs had a bigger/longer blade?

Hands down the PXG felt better and but only had slightly better numbers performance wise. However the G700 irons are a really forgiving set and really had no logical reason to get rid of them. If memory serves me correctly they were pretty similar in size.

Those are completely different clubs, are they not? P790 is for a better player. G710 is for high handicap.
