I "invested" in one of those golf cart covers and heaters that fit in the cart about a year ago and let me tell you it was a great investment. I remember playing in our closing scramble and everybody making fun at me and my partner at the first tee, but when the wind picked up and the temp dropped guess who was laughing then. I definitely recommend these items. Am I goofy or taking away from the game?

Nope you are not different. There's quite several of them at my home course and around this area. It's a good investment for one that plays often in wintertime in midwest or mid-south.

 

Members buy the covers and my home club put them on the carts so they can use it in wintertimes. It does help during rounds when temps are in 30-40's. It sure beats not playing at all. I know of several that uses propane cart heaters.

I can't imagine ever needing one of those here in Hawaii.....but looking at some of the weather conditions you guys are playing in...if I was, I'd buy it! :tongue:

seriously tho..with that set up playing when it's 40* is not a problem cuz your hands stay warm and the eyes don't freeze shut with the tears created when you drive into the wind...style be da*ned comfort is what's important!

The cart covers and heaters are a great benefit, IF you are going to be in a cart that is... I just put a propane heater in the middle of my duck boat, and other than potentially laying waste to some valuable Gore-Tex material I wouldn't leave it out for anything.

 

I still think the best way to keep warm on the course is by humping your way around on your own two legs. I have just given in to the pull cart thing on my past 2 rounds here in Oregon due to a broken back coming back to haunt me in my old age. Here I was thinking the invention of the century was that umbrella holder you find on the new model pull carts. If they made a full cover and a heater for a pull cart I would let you walk in there with me... nerd..

 

I think you will find a little facial hair will dull the nerd stigma..

 

Kidding of course... Do whatever it takes to keep the couch from sticking to your rear my friend...

Me and my dad have had covers and a propane heater in our carts for 10 plus years! Smart move! Everyone we play with has covers in the trunk of their car during the winter season! Being Warm > Looking Funny.

I think it's actually pretty smart. As long as you are comfortable, who cares what others think.

I just bought the Coleman Golf Cat cart heater. Has anyone who uses this or similar unit been given a hard time by the course staff? I'm afraid some places may not allow these to be used for fear of cart damage.

Man, I used to think the cart covers were some of the stupidest things I've seen.

 

...that is until I played in the Winter rain or on a cold, foggy morning tournament.

 

I worked at a course in high school where the pro had invested in the same thing, a cart cover and a portable Coleman heater. I borrowed it for a morning tournament and it was great. Nice and toasty!

 

I don't take a cart enough to warrant the purchase of either, but you sure feel spoiled when you get to use one!

hell no! we have the same system in our cart. you will look like a kook when its not even cold though. so i am really strict with my parents when the cover and heater is on
