$-Taper 120 compared to Modus 120

I currently play and love the feel and performance of the Modus 120 x. I love the soft, smooth feel combined with the snap at impact. Was looking at a set of p 790's with $-Taper shafts at an extremely attractive price and have heard good things about their feel. With the California's Shelter in place, not able to go down to the golf shop and test shafts, was looking for any thoughts on the difference between the two shafts. Played and hit a lot of shafts prior to the Modus 120 and can quickly respond that I don't enjoy the board feeling of a PX rifle or the C-Taper shaft. Thank you

So I love Modus 120x and as a bonus it’s the best iron shaft for me as far as performance goes. I also hit $-Taper 130x and to me it was far softer in the tip and my spin rate went up a ton. From a numbers perspective it never would have worked. From a feel perspective I hated it. Never could get along with softer tipped shafts. But like anything, your mileage may vary.

I can't imagine a Modus 120 player liking $-taper shafts, very different feel and profile. $-taper is in between C-taper and Tour, softer tip and firmer butt than Modus 120.

Absolutely agree. If you’re in love with Modus 120 there’s really nothing else out there like it (that I’m aware of).

I see a lot of comparisons between modus 120 and project x lz.

I have as well. From a performance standpoint they’re in the ballpark. Feel wise, I thought the LZ’s felt super loose in the middle, just not a fan. But we all know feel is super subjective and plenty of people love PX LZ.

I‘be tried the Modus 120 several times over the past 2 years with the $-Taper 125’s.

As others have said, if you like the $-Tapers you probably won’t like the Modus 120s.

The $-Tapers feels so smooth to me and I just cannot get any consistant tempo with the Modus and I’ve tried the 120X and 120S.

I am probably in the minority here but I had the $-Tapers and switched to the modus 120X and really liked both.

I prefer the Modus as I’d never hit them until I just got fitted a few months back. I think both are pretty smooth but the modus was a flatter trajectory with less spin for me.

i am a long time KBS guy, had KBS tours, then C tapers then $ tapers and I was somewhat surprised I liked the modus as much as i did. Super smooth and you can go at them hard and they still feel the same.

(nothing like a KBS $-Taper btw)
