Been a while since someone looked at my swing

I have had a problem in the past with closing the shoulders at the beginning of the downswing resulting in an out-to-in path, as well as a lack of external rotation of the right arm and early release. I have come a long way but still have a long way to go. Any comments/observations/ advice are appreciated. Thank you!

Looks like you get over the top in your swing by pulling from the top. The drill that taught me how to get on a better plane is with an alignment stick and pool noodle. The pool noddle hangs on the plane line behind the ball. If you cut across, you hit the pool noodle. If you swing on plane, you will move the club right under the pool noodle without hitting it.

I know that drill. Haven't done it In a while but I'll pull it back out. What do you mean by "pulling form the top?"

Your shoulders are opening too quickly which is caused by two things. Hands going too far out or head turning toward the target too early. Keep the head to the right on the downswing and let the hands drop first then the rotation will kick in later to square the face.

Use a ball. I can do the most amazing swings and hit crazy positions witout a ball.

Looks like your takeaway could use just a minor adjustment and your swing would be pretty freaking awesome. You push your hands further away from your body during the take away which would cause a super upright steep swing without any compensations. However, you over correct the outside the line takeaway by flattening the plane in the second half of the backswing causing you to be laid off at the top. Congrats because Rickie Fowler struggles with the same thing. Tip: Feel like your hands stay a little closer to your body during the takeaway and continue to keep the club outside of your hands like you current do. It will feel like you hands are swinging back a little to the inside while the club is still very much in front of you. Doing so should prevent you from flattening the plane in the second half of backswing, allowing your club to gather nicely at the top of the backswing.

Remember to gradually implement the change.
