How well did they hit the ball?

Balance issue possibly but then do what ever is comfortable for you!

One of my favorite players, but what does this clip has to do with the ball position close to the heel of the club face?
I know some put the ball closer to the toe to encourage a inside to outside swing, but rarely see anyone does the opposite.

This is a friend of mine, one of the top amateurs in the Met area for several decades. He addresses everything in the heel, irons through driver. He likes to take it back outside, then drop it inside, and sort of stands-up at impact, which draws the arms in: you can see how much his upper body moves away from the target line by relating his head to the last range-net pole in the distance. Can fade it or draw it, though I think he has a better "fade" swing.

the head pro at the golf course that i work at does the same thing somewhat, except he places the ball on the toe of the club almost outside the toe of the club.....hes about a 1 handicap and almost passed his PAT missed it by 1 stroke (played last 5 holes in like 6 over par)

neways.....he can hit the snot out of the ball ....ive tried the same and ive done the same

he says he does it because it makes you "go after the ball" which make sense kind of

a head pro that hasn't passed the PAT...and has failed in his most recent attempt at that???

Kinda odd...

Lol he almost passed his PAT then he can almost be a PGA member someday

Most 3 or 4 handicaps could pass a Pat we are only talking 15 over the course rating for 36 holes

That means if par is 72 and the rating is 70 155 for two rounds gets it done thats a 77 and a 78.

The sweet spot on irons is towards the heel and actually higher up the face. Manufacturers have been trying for years to lower it and move it over, with some success that is why a lot of Pro's and low handicappers set their irons up more towards the heel.

For long clubs, I keep it just out past the center of the face. For shorter clubs I keep it just in from the center. The reason is that with my driver and 2 through 4 iron, my club moves out a bit. I don't get this on a 7i and shorter. I try to contact just inside the center toward the heel. I'm talking a couple millimeters here, nothing drastic. I used impact tape to align all my clubs and hit and hit and hit them until I was puring it and figured out where the sweet spots were, and where to set up to get me there. Lengthy experiment, but worth it in the end. The problem is that it only works if I'm playing several round per week. Anything less and my swing deteriorates too fast.

That sounds rather fishy...

back to the topic, i try and put it pretty much dead center of the sweetspot, cause thats where i want to hit it. Sometimes i put it a bit on the toe though if ive had a S%@#nk"or two
