Practice like a pro

I was wondering if anyone has used this DVD series and whether or not they thought it helped because i am trying to be alot more efficent with the practice time that i have.

Just got it today and watched about half of it. I think there are some good points made, the main one being PRACTICE YOUR SHORT GAME MORE THAN YOUR LONG GAME!!!!! This is no secret to better players, this is where you score. There are some fun drills and games to play around the greens. Overall it didn't seem that spectacular to me.

I was wondering how much of the DVD talks about the mental game. Dr. Bob Rotella is featured and he works with a lot of Tour players.

Havent checked out the DVD, just wanted to agree on the part of practicing more on short game than long game.

 

Last summer i figured out i needed more training around the green, and in the end, most my practice was around the green. I found out this practice wasnt just good for scores, but also fun. Some say nothing beats a good drive, but i must admit that finesse around the green is equally satisfying and is on par with a good drive any day.

Just look at the PGA pros and you'll find out most of the pros loose because of the short game which includes putting. The guy who can putt consistently for all 4 days will most likely be in the top ten.

I see the pros using these games and drills all the time. Rotella stuff is awesome. I thought the conversations with Rotella was worth double the price. He makes so much sense. It is easy to see why his players are so good. I thought Tripp was good on TV, unlike most of the other stiff Tour pros(other than Tiger).

Reviving this thread...now that the Rotella DVDs have been out awhile, does anyone have any other thoughts to add? Also, how do the techniques fit in with either the Pelz or Utley methods?

Hi all, noticed that you guys didn't get any responses to this. I just joined and have this DVD set. This is the first DVD I've ever ordered from an infomercial (the first time I saw it too). I found this set not that good at all to be honest with you. Not much to it. I watched it the first time and was like...."that's it"??? Record the infomercial and you'll have the best parts of the DVDs in my view. Very disappointed by this box set. To summarize:

 

1. Practice your short game more than your long game.

2. Not only practice the physical aspect of golf but the mental. Play games as part of your practice session so that you put pressure on yourself. Example: Make 20 3-footers in a row. If you miss start over. Or...play a "short-game" round using only lag putting/chipping, each "hole" is a part 2. When possible, practice/compete with a partner.

 

I found the best thing of the whole thing is a little book that you can put in your bag that has lots of short-game contests you can practice with. But you can make something like that on your own or just make up your own games.

 

Maybe its just because I do alot of this stuff already when I practice. Perhaps a lot of people don't. If your practice sessions are consist of going to the range and hitting a bucket of balls then perhaps you will get something out of this. But if you are already serious about improving your short game....you probably already do most of this stuff anyway.
