In looking though the earlier replies, I see that there are a few Kroydon players out there! I also had Kroydon irons and they might have been Joe Campbell signatures. Not very memorable as far as playability. I also had Wilson Sam Snead woods and a Walter Hagen Sure Shot putter. I still have the putter and my younger brother still has the rest of them.

Just an aside about Joe Campbell: joe was a terrific golfer. Purdue All- America, etc. He won everything in Indiana in the 1950's and even the 60's.
Played sporatically on the tour. Very inconsistent putter, to say the least . The last few times I ever saw him play, in the early 1970's, he was putting with a 3-iron! and could still shoot in the 60's, putting with that .
He easily recognized because he was always chomping on a big cigar.

Besides hand me downs first from my mom when I was small then finally a no longer used set of Kenneth Smith's from my dad, My first irons I received as a gift were First Flight FTD irons. They had ENORMOUS offset and I thought I was hot stuff, HA!!

Won a tournament in 1976 with a prize of $250 gift certificate - a lot then! Bought a set of 1976 Wilson Staff's for $230 brand new so those were the first clubs I bought for myself. Still have 'em. Looked at them recently and they are beat to hell on the faces but I always take great care of my stuff and the rest of the clubs look great!

The year was 1967 - and the first real set of clubs I got I ordered out of the Sears & Roebuck catalog....they were Wilson clubs - Julius Boros edition and I couldn't wait to get them sent to me. However, it took 2 months longer to get them than I had planned - because they were sent to Grand Junction, Colorado - the problem was... I lived in Grand Junction, Michigan!

But eventually - after 3 months of pure anticipation - they finally arrived - and my golfing career began.

I played them for the next 10 years, while on my high school and college golf teams - until I bought a set of Wilson Staff tour blades in 1977.

Time marches on....

Take care my fellow Seniors, and play well.

And always remember - [b]"Master golf...and you master life itself."

Ironically, I also had, and still have a set of First Flights...but not the FTD's. What made these unique is they had aluminum shafts.

My brother and I shared a Spalding Kro Flite set at first.

The first set I purchased was Ram Accubar (the ones that looked like AC108s, which looked like . . . ), with a Cobra Phil Rogers SW and 60* (wedges got stolen a couple years later), and a Pinnacle putter (looked like an Anser but black with removable toe and heel weights). Still my favourite woods - I mashed the hell out of those old laminates;

Still play a 975D 6.5 w/ Prolaunch Blue as my back-up, haha. I don't know why, I just hit it pretty solid.

I remember having this D but really wanting that smaller R head. You remember those? Just beautiful clubs..a shame they don't make them like that anymore.

Well, I was 6 when those were released, haha. I picked up my 975 on here for 30 bucks because I was bored and, while it was a bit shorter, I like it better than my more modern back ups. It really is a pretty club.

Dad's old Big Bertha driver, 4 and 7 woods

Tommy Armour 845 Oversize Irons

Dad's old titleist wedges

Dad's old Ping belly putter that I used to putt hockey style like Happy Gilmore.........I think he used to get embarrassed by me putting that way because one day that putter disappeared and to this day he still "claims" he has no idea where it went.

I wish I could remember - I think they were a set of Macgregor blades with a Jack nicklaus signature. Not quite Muirfield blades but something similar as I recall - they were many sets of Macgregors around at the time with Jack's monicker on them. Woods were a mix of Tony Penna, Slazenzer and a Ram 5-wood. A bullseye putter and a rather gaudy tartan style bag. I wish I'd kept them though - I tend to hold on to my gear these days, but in my younger days I used to switch brands like everybody else to emulate our heroes on tour. I upgraded to a set of Ram blades because I saw Seve using a set and Tom Watson too of course. Happy days.
