My Swing Evolution is a Charlatan!

He seems like a nice guy.

I was literally subscribed to his channel until the day he posted that match against Devore and shot like a 46 lol.

I did not see the game of a guy who should be charging people money for lessons or tips. He looked like a standard 12 capper you see at every course every weekend.

Yes. Not a guy that has cracked the code. He seemed so genuine early on, now I just see his loud talking as worse than a used car salesman. It is arguably fraud which by definition is gaining a financial advantage by deception. With all the fancy white backgrounds and now the new sim it gives the “appearance” of legitimacy. People without a background in golf will think oh wow look at this guy he seems very “professional”. They will have seen Hogan here and there mentioned as the greatest ball striker and then see his stuff and think if I really want to be good I must have this as part of my golfing education. Marketing fluff. He started out on wrx doing more general golf videos so I’d be surprised if he hasn’t seen this.

I am seeing all of your points.  If one truly has a great way to teach the golf swing, then don't use Hogan's name.  Let the approach speak for itself.  People will find your links, youtube videos and then find the material useful.  Using Hogan's name should be off limits.

Golfers then would say,
Hey this guy's swing and mine are looking a lot like Ben Hogan's.  Then let the paying audience decide if it was money well spent, or a chunky divot.

And I’m sure he knows thousands of golfers search for Ben Hogan on YouTube. Not Christo Garcia. Even if it is with good intentions and not to pimp off his name... $80 for a digital package that costs nothing to produce each extra unit?

“Hey guys I’m an 80 shooter like you, you can spend $80 to see what I’ve been working on, which will probably also be just like your research into the guy that everyone studies and probably no better.” I’ve seen many times where he’s used the ideas of others on here. Like the gifs showing how Hogan went from cupped to bowed in an instant mid downswing.

Look at all his videos and you can see the empty and fake smile. He "knows" he's in way too deep. And too late to fess up that he's wrong and he doesn't have the slightest clue about Hogan's secret or even the most fundamental thing about the man's swing for that matter.

He's getting less n less view nowadays. The only people that clicks on his thumbnails are pretty much the frustrated golfer who are looking for "a quick fix". And that's exactly how he intended it as well. Any golfer with at least a fundamental understanding of the golf swing will immediately see through his cleverly edited footage.

P.S.

And still no 18 holes vlog with another respected pro or youtubers. Figures.

Dang, I was going to start my own channel on how I cracked the Hogan code, but now I'm not so sure.  Of course, I'm talking about Paul Hogan, so maybe I'll be ok.  "That's not a slice.  This is a slice."

Yeah and I think Gerry Hogan has been done to death too. His book is quite interesting actually on some of the basic science behind the swing. It had a lot of viral threads a few years ago and many turned into mad disciples.

The sad thing about MSE is this... he's been lurking and stealing other people's take on what makes Hogan's swing tick way before his infamous claims. He re-cycles the ideas by using his own "terminology" to make it seemed like it was original.

All his so called techniques are just "old wives tales" of Hogan techniques said by other Hogan aficionado through the years.

And the saddest part is he couldn't even produce any of these moves in his real swing.

Does he not know that people with V1 or simply "a pause button" on their remote could easily dissect his swing to reveal that there is "none whatsoever" resemblance of any element of the Hogan impact dynamic in MSE's swing?

Boggles the mind really. His audacity to try to fool other golfers in which many are professionals or expert in the field. Either he's really naive or just shameless. I vote the latter.

Ask yourself this folks. If MSE could really shoot in the 70s consistently like he claims (hell even in the 80s would be something LOL). He would make playing vlogs all day long. Why? Because he would want to show off his abilities so he could get more views and make more money. It's simple logic really. But why hasn't he done it? Because he simply does not possess the ability to do so!

This Gerry Hogan?

Red line = Gerry Hogan's swing plane after exiting the lead shoulder(I traced his real club shaft from the video)

Yellow line = Ben Hogan's swing plane would be in this position after exiting his lead shoulder.

.

.

.

.

My two cents.

His content is not about Hogan at all and he doesn’t pretend it is from memory. Doesn’t even pretend to be a good player. Just shared his research.

What reputable golf teacher is telling students hey come and learn 80 lessons. What so 80 things to have in your head on the course? Which is likely more than 80 because each one will change the whole so have to make adjustments. Typical online con artist trying to make people think they’re getting amazing value for money.

I have to hand it to him, though; he's made a good living off of complete suckers.   Hogan was Hogan and while the great man helped a few golfers like John Schlee, John Mahaffey who both adopted shallower swings, there are no pro golfers who ever got to the Hall of Fame under Ben Hogan's tutelege.

Is there anything to copy Ben Hogan for?  Yes, work ethic and sheer determination.   Hogan's swing was for Hogan, just like Jack Nicklaus' swing was for Jack.

Most of the people who buy these "systems" are week-end golfers who spend zero time on the range Monday - Friday.   Want to improve?  See your local pro and practice.

It's true Hogan did not relish helping playing competitors but Jackie Burke Jr. is in the Hall of Fame and shared many ideas with, and from,  Ben on the lesson tee as part of the Hogan-Burke-Demaret-Nelson friendship in the Texas corral.      If one wants to know Ben Hogan they need look no further than Mr. Burke, he knows, he's not guessing.        Back in those days tour players stayed in the same hotel and after hours sat around the lobby slamming whiskey and talking golf- tons of learning going on in that closed community.
