Club Corp Questions

Recommended Posts

As stated above the travel perks are a big benefit. I'm in the DC area and there are several other Club Corp locations which provides excellent variety.

Edit:  you can play another club twice per month.  No limit to how many other clubs you play per month however - just not the same club more than twice.

Okay, here's another thread to check out.

Thanks. That raised a few red flags. I did have a few concerns about the corporate atmosphere. We are still going to take a look, but I'll go in with both eyes open. My other choice here is an older course, that is probably not quite as upscale, but more laid back. That's probably the direction I'm leaning.

CC courses are very crowded... they are designed to make money for club Corp so I find that conditions take a gradual decline... my 02, never been a member at a club Corp course but have probably played 30-40 rounds on 7 different CC courses in the last 6 years... overall, not bad, not great, some better than others..

Toured the club yesterday, some things very good, some not so good. The people were all very nice. I'm a walker, and the course looked pretty spread out. It did look like it was in good shape. Did not see a single person walking. They have two courses, with two clubhouses. The main clubhouse was nice, the other clubhouse looked like it needed a lot of sprucing up. After touring the club, I think we will keep looking.

The course was in a gated community, and members had to buy a pass, or go through a security gate with a guard. I thought that was a bit cheesy. There is a really good public course in a county park that charges admission to the park about a mile away from the country club. If I bought an annual pass to the course, it includes an admission sticker for the park.

I don't know why you don't just name the club and get opinions on the club itself. No clubcorp club is so exclusive to not name.

Bermuda Run. I tried that in another thread, and got no response. I really wanted to get some info on ClubCorp in general. Do you have any specific knowledge of Bermuda Run?

So you had the option of buying an entry pass or going through the guard?  That sounds reasonable assuming you don't live in that community.  I often play a couple Club Corp courses in gated communities and just go past the guards lane. Only takes a few seconds.  I simply say I'm going to play golf and get right in.

They have a special gate for residents and members, and I just thought it was kind of cheap considering paying monthly dues.

I’ve been to Piedmont several times. It’s a nice layout (Fazio I think) and conditions are always great. Plus if you join Piedmont you also have playing privileges at the two Dominion CC courses just a mile down the road. They are both Arnold Palmer designs. One is normal 18 hole the other is executive 18 hole.
