Moving from Cobra Fly Z+ irons to 0211 or something else....Thoughts?

I have been gaming with Cobra Fly Z+ Forged irons with KBS Tour S+ shafts.  It has been a decent setup, but can't say I was blown away.  Now that we are nearing the end of the season, there are some good deals to be had.  I'm giving serious thoughts to the PXG 0211, because of their current sale.  Can anyone give a comparison?  The 0211 are cast.  Do they have a similar look and feel to the Ping i series?  Irons used to be the strongest part of my game, but for some reason over the past 2 season have become my worst.  I was playing the Fly Z+ pro blades before this and Ping Ansers before that.

I absolutely LOVED those Cobra irons when I gamed them.  I've played the PXG 0211 and was not a fan.  Love the looks and the feel is great but I would get these really inconsistent yardages.  Off-center strikes felt good but they came up short, so it really lacked the feedback I was looking for.

In terms of how the 0211 compare to the i500 irons I think the PXG felt better.  i500 kind of felt "dead" to me even on good strikes.

If you're looking for a really good iron that is comparable to feel of the FlyZ+ I would take a hard look at the Srixon irons.  585 are nice and a bit more forgiving but the 785 will be very comparable to the FlyZ+ in looks/feel and they are surprisingly easy to hit.

I gamed the Fly Z+ irons from the time they came out until last year when I was chosen to be one of the testers for the Hogan PTx Pro iron.  I still have the PTx Pros in the bag and they aren't going anywhere.  Both irons felt good to me, and the lofts were bent to the same specs, so distances are the same.  The biggest difference to me is that the shorter irons in the Hogans are easier to flight down when necessary.  I really struggled doing that with the Fly Z+ short irons.

It took some time to adjust to the irons visually because the Hogans have a thicker top line.  It's nothing crazy, but it was an adjustment.  I realized it was the way that the clubs were designed compared to the Cobra set.  There was more mass at the bottom of the club with the Fly Z+, whereas the PTx Pro spread the mass out over the entire cavity.

Srixon irons would be a good choice to look at as well.  They are really easy to blend from 585 to the 785 short irons if you wanted to go with something like that.

I appreciate the feed back.  I do like Cobra irons but need a shaft change.  I have been looking at New Level and Hogan.  Just waiting on demos.  With the huge jump in prices those become more and more appealing.  Thanks for the feedback back on the 0211.  I have games Pings in the past.  Pings have a unique feel, but last forever and you know what you are going to get.  Says a lot

I gave up on the 0211.  Noticed those and the 0311 come with a True Temper Elevate shaft.  That is the last shaft I need even in the tour.  PXG wants to charge $39 to change to shafts even for shafts cheaper than the Elevate.  No thanks.

I search continues.

Have not hit them but know someone who has them or at least did.  Have to check.  Curious what shafts were in your Z's and now your Srixons?

I played the Cobra’s for 4-5 seasons and would grab a set here and there to play for a few weeks but always went back to the Cobras.

But I had Recoil 125 protos in the Cobra’s, moved on to the MMT 125 in the Srixon’s and I don’t think I’m ever looking back. They both feel amazing but the MMT is much better in the wind and my misses are definitely landing closer to the target, not sure how much of that is the club head switch

Yes.......hopefully soon.  I hit several sets and finally made a decision and was fitted.  I am just waiting on the new ones to arrive.  Supposed to be in the next week or 2 at most.  PM me if you want to discuss further.  If not, I will be listing them in the classified section on here.
