I’ve done the drive from the sf bay to Eugene several times (en route to Portland or Seattle) - and I think from Eugene out to Bandon is another 2.5.  Depending on what time you leave Santa Cruz, getting to Bandon in one shot is a pretty full day.

Its a super good drive though, once you get off 80 onto 505.

Its a great drive on 101 if you take your time. You can play at Northwood (A Mackenzie 9 holes) in the redwood forest at Russian River and some say Bodega Bay is ok (some not). The redwoods are beautiful and the coast is quite spectacular when you approach it near Eureka. We drove up from Sfo and stayed at Crescent City before the last couple of hours to Bandon. Builds the tension perfectly before the main event.

Fantastic. I think we would take the scenic view point.

Do All courses do aeration end of September in Bay area? I saw Pasatiempo does it end of September. Figured we could also play Harding Park or another course nearby?

Thoughts on going half way and splitting the drive in two days?

Next year I’m assuming? Call and see what type of aerification they do. Do they pull cores, solid tine, dry-ject? That will all have an effect on playability.

Now where are you starting your journey? If you are flying into Seattle, Chambers. Also Chambers will be a good warm up for Bandon. If you are going the other direction I would do Pasatiempo.

I called yesterday. They are doing pull cores. He even said the course will be in rough shape. They do fairways, tee boxes and greens.

we are flying into either Seattle or San Fran.  Coming in from denver and Tucson. Group of 4.

Driven both stretches many times. If it is about packing in golf, Chambers and Drive down works well. You have can stay on the 5 until Portland and then have lots of chances to cut down to the coast depending on the ratio you want of scenic drive v fast drive. your are look at 6.5-7.5hrs depending on the route you choose

I prefer the coastal drive from SF but it is a few hours longer, particular if you take the most scenic route. you are looking at 8.5 to 9 hours regardless of the route.

Let me throw this out, fly into Redmond and play 2 days in Bend, OR. From there it’s a 4 1/2 hr drive to Bandon. Amazing brew pubs, one of the best stay and play deals in golf at Sunriver (in season it was like $129 a night with all you can golf, I think $99 a night the time of year you are thinking of going). Plus Pronghorn and Tetherow. You could play Tokatee on the way to Bandon then stop in Florence at the casino for a night and then head out early for only and hour and a half drive.

I had thought about that. Would it be truly better than chambers ? I’ve never played in bend.

and the more I think about it I could do chambers and then a round at Bandon too. Just trying to make it easy.
