Pinehurst Resort - Caddie Fee Through resort or Direct with Caddie? Dbl Bag or Single bags?

Does anyone know if you book caddies at Pinehurst Resort is it paid through the resort package or paid direct to the caddie.

We are playing No.4 and No.2 and plan on walking both. Looking to either go double bag  (since a lot of people say to do this as it helps the caddies make more) or 4 single bags.  Thoughts?   Pretty much to me the price either way is the same if being fair.

Really what I am wondering is. of we book through the resort does the resort take a cut?   *just want the caddies to get full amount honestly

Fees are paid at the golf shop during check in and not included with packages. You can see pricing on the provided link. Tips go directly to the caddies. Not sure how much of the fee goes to the caddie.

I love that golf resort in Pinehurst. Caddy fees are paid upon check-in at the golf shop. Most guests typically share a caddy between two players. It costs $ 75 per player. I went there once too, and I liked it. I went last year, and those were the prices last year. Maybe this year, due to inflation, it has become more expensive. Now everything is getting more expensive worldwide, and it would be best to call and ask. We still want to plan a holiday there, but now, during the period of price inflation, it is very expensive to arrive from Australia. So we rest at home in Australia because we also have some wonderful accommodation nearby. I wish you a pleasant experience!

I played No. 2 just last week. Took a caddy who carried just my bag. The caddy fee in the shop was $85, and the shop recommended a $70 tip for a single bag. My caddy was absolutely excellent on giving me yardages, pulling the correct clubs, telling me where the preferred miss was to the pin positions that day, and most of all reading putts. I told him on the 13th hole that he easily saved me 4-5 strokes on my round up to that point. On the 15th hole he talked me out of a 6 iron and into a 7 iron from 188 yards which set up an 8 foot birdie putt which again, thanks to his green reading skills I converted for a ‘2 on 2.’

I tipped him $110. So all in it was $195 for a caddy, which is the most I have ever spent on a caddy in one day. But I have to say it was worth every single penny for what I got.

It’s worth noting that the caddies only get $22 of the $75 you pay to the shop. As of fall of 2021 I know that information is accurate. It may have changed a bit for 2022. The gratuity (I hate this term because it’s really what the caddies are making, not something extra) goes directly to the caddie and is paid in cash following the round. They keep all of this.

I don’t know if they will accommodate single bags or not. You will need to call ahead and ask. Most likely it will depend on how busy they are and if they have enough people to make it happen. I’m guessing if you do get a someone to carry a single bag it will be a newer caddie without as much experience. Their top caddies all want to carry two to make more money.
Worth noting, as of last spring, the Pinehurst website listed a higher dollar amount for recommended gratuity for a single bag than a double. This no longer appears to be the case. If you specifically request a single I would recommend paying the caddie extra.

If you have a good experience with a caddie, it’s a good idea to ask them if they’re available the following day. That way you can have the same person on the bag. It’s always nice to have someone you are familiar with and the other way around.
