Something different - Daytona offerings

I went back 2 pages and didn't see any threads about the Daytona area.  I'm headed down there sort of at the last minute (last week in February).  I'm hoping to get 2-3 rounds in over the course of the week.  I'll be traveling with my lady, and she's said she'd join me at least to hang out and drive around in the cart.  Looking for good conditions (greens specifically), fun layout, and something not too punishing on a 13-hdcp northerner that's played 2 9-hole rounds in January.

Not a lot of great courses in the Daytona area.  The main one is LPGA International.  You will want to play the Hills course.  The Jones course isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, but it is a bit boring and just not as good as the Hills course.  

 

You may want to take a trip to DeLand and play Victoria Hills and maybe a trip to Deltona to play the Deltona Club (usually has sketchy conditioning, but a great design and at a good price).

Agree on the Hills over the Jones at LPGA. Hills is fair and fun. Jones can be over penalizing with its deep green side bunkering to very flat elevated pin locations. Hard to stop the ball even for the best bunker players.

 

Riviera CC is a public course, straight out of the 1950s. Great greens that were redone by Slugger White of PGA officiatating fame. Can be busy, but fun. Narrower fairways and tall trees. Play it forward a set of tees your first time.

 

Further south, there is a newer spot, The Club at Venetian Bay. Pretty fun layout, I've only played it once but i would go back. Not much around it but a Walmart and a Popeyes, but its a fun layout.

 

As always, in any Daytona Beach thread, I'm suggesting Cantina Louie for some great Mexican food. I want these places full of customers so they stay open!! And hopefully keep expanding south till they hit Melbourne!! ha.

Halifax Plantation is a superbly conditioned and fine test of chasin .... just north of LPGA by one of two hwy exits

Thanks for the feedback guys.  Sounds like LPGA Hills is a definite.  I'll look into the others.  What about DBCC South Course?  I've played some of Ross' classics in NY.  How will it compare?

Just north of Daytona you should look at hammock beach in palm coast. It’s a resort course so beautiful layout and fairly forgiving
