Just received part of my new P770 irons, currently use the OG P790's with Modus 120 S, the new P770's all have DG 105 S300 are are bent mostly 1 degree stronger across the set.  I have only been able to hit a few of the P770's as the rest of the set won't be here until the end of the month.  But, wanted to provide some feedback.  Personally I like the P770's a lot better, both in terms of feel and ball flight.  I realize that I should be hitting the 770's higher but my trajectory was actually exactly where I want it - the 790's always went too high for me.  I realize this could be a product of the shaft and how much loft I deliver at impact but the combo of the 770's and the lighter DG 105 allows me to achieve the lower ball flight (not low but what I would consider ideal).  Also, the P790's swing weight was D0 across the set (not sure why, that is how they came) and the P770's are all D2 and D3 in the PW.  Anyway...I'm sure there are a variety of factors but the 770's with this shaft combo are a good fit for me and I like how they feel and perform much better than the 790's (which were a great set in their own right).

I couldn’t agree more. I recently got P770’s and absolutely love the feel of them. Coming from game improvement irons I was interested in either the 790 or 770’s but after testing both I much preferred consistency of the 770 as well as the added spin.

Just curious when did you order them and did you order them from Taylor made?  The heads have been saying out of stock since at least January.

ordered P770s last Thanksgiving from a pro shop and was told in stock be in Jan. It then turned into March then April and now expected ship date is May. They were custom orders 1 degree up and kbs c-tapers but the most recent update both heads and shafts were back ordered causing the delay.

I totally agree with this

I had the 790’s, switched to the 760’s for feel and spin.....then was super excited this year to try the 770’s.....

But found them ‘clicky and harsh’.....tried 2 separate times.....was so disappointed...

Ended up with T100’s and couldn’t be happier....still use my p790 4i though for some ‘help’

+1. T100s launch plenty high for me. Also 790s swing speed is a huge factor. If you swing driver over 110 you might have gapping issues in the mid and long irons.

Anyone have any experience with 3 irons? I play p770s project x 6.5 shafts. I love them and hit them well. I bought a p790 2 iron with hazardous black shaft. It’s good out of the middle but I don’t find that much consistence with it and non huge fan of the graphite shaft. Trying to decide between p770 and p790 3 iron. Any thoughts welcome
