New Smyrna Beach Course Recommendation

We are going to be in the New Smyrna Beach area in late June.  Will possibly have time for 1 round.  Have never been to the area, and I’m hoping you guys can point me towards what would be the best option.  Thanks!

Welcome to the one place in Florida that doesn't have a ton of golf options.  For whatever reason, I-95 from Jacksonville to south of Vero Beach there are not a ton of courses.

 

My recommendations would be Venetian Bay club which is close to NSB and has a fun layout. I have not played Hidden Lakes or NSB Golf Course but I see times and the reviews seem to be ok. Nothing amazing or resort-ish conditions, just public golf.

 

North in Daytona there is LPGA, i recommend the Hills course over the Jones. Especially with how dry its been, the Jones will be very difficult with flat table-top greens and deep greenside bunkers. You have to hit soft flop sand shots to have a prayer at holding.

 

Riviera CC in Daytona has an old school vibe, feels like youre in the 1960's there. They have some special greens they are very proud of that can be very fast and tricky. Old school course/layout but fun. Also can be very busy but moves pretty quick.

 

I've never played Crane Lakes in Port Orange but it has good reviews and is on my list to play sometime.

NSB is a Donald Ross muni that I’ve heard good things about but haven’t played. 
 

Venetian bay is fine, they had green issues over a year ago but I’ve heard that’s been resolved. 
 

cypress head is a great track and a local favorite. Also a muni, and as such, has greens that are bit slower than I like. 
 

crane lakes is a fun par 66 that always has top notch putting surfaces. 
 

LPGA has two solid tracks. Courses hold a bit of water when it rains, and bunkers suffer from a combo of this a maintenance issues. 
 

riviera doesn’t disappoint, usually a great value too. WALKABLE.

Teamoni hit the nail on the head. I would try to check out LPGA for sure, but Cypress Head, Crane Lakes, Venetian Bay, Spruce Creek, and the NSB muni are all fun courses that should be relatively cheap in June. Out of all of those, the NSB muni probably has the quickest greens but my favorite course to play is probably Cypress head or crane lakes
