New for 2008 ONOFF Driver

yeah..the all black everyone's been asking me about ;)

Here's a couple of pics I took today with my iPhone of the new OnOff Hyper Effect Zone Driver. It's the "all black" head everyone's been pm'ing me about. Looks super in person, feels similar to the my 450cc I have. Not quite sure how it is on the course since I've only had a net session with it. This particular head is a "tour" model from the tour section. :)

Sorry the pics are not the greatest..I'll try and get better photos with a real camera later. The head actually sits very square unlike the photo I added where I inadvertantly had the face closed when I took the picture.

Only problem...I've heard ONOFF is recalling all the heads as they have had issues with them.

Something to do with the hossle adapters they use I think (similar to Callys clock ferrule) from what I've heard. That sucks because this seems like a pimp looking driver. Any luck with the new Yamaha tour model?

The more and more I look at these OnOff offerings, the more I see myself delving into JDM stuff!

Thanks for the pics. What are your initial impressions? I know you said you have only a net session with it so far, but I am curious as to the feel and sound. Also, I see you have a very sweet looking two-tone Roddio shaft installed, what model and how does the shaft feel? Lol, sorry to ask so much but I can't find many reviews on those shafts.

Huh? Never heard that one..the problem they've been having is the faces have been cracking. Not good news at all and I'm very surprised that they have a production problem.

No luck with a Yamaha because I've never looked for one.

True..and bad actually. Due to OnOff drivers having a special proprietary sleeve which is not available at your local Golfsmith...much like most everything on their clubs..rubber ferrules...unless you have a OnOff trained Club Maker, who's got access to the sleeves, you might have some trouble reshafting the heads on the drivers. I've seen some pretty screwed up drivers come into the shop where the club maker has not known about the sleeve, drilled out the head and filled the cavity with epoxy. Seriously, you'd go nuts seeing how some guys can screw up these heads.

Since it's not my driver...I didn't even bother to look at the shaft very closely. All I know is it was a Roddio. It was extremely stout because the club was made for a Professional. Like I said, the head is a "tour" model. The head has the same solid OnOff sound that I've come to get used to after using them for the past two years. More similar to a old Titleist model then anything else. Lookswise...it's just super looking.

Hi Reid,

Thanks for the info, that is the first time I heard about problems with the face cracking. I was told that there were issues with the regular/non-Plus driver, but I thought the OnOFF Plus was in the clear. I hope they get it sorted out soon.

The problem has been corrected. As far as I know, nobody has been having problems with the hosel sleeves and heads lately.

 

Btw...there's really no need for the huge fonts. :rolleyes:

the stiff shaft is more like senior shaft? amirite?

 

my local shop has them..i love the look but the shaft is seriously too whippy
