Aw man, I missed out on this opportunity.

I've been using strackaline at my home course (27 holes) for a number of years now.  Initially it was so I get a better read of the greens with the course(s) being new.  Now I use it for confirmation of my reads.  It's definitely made me a better overall putter.

As I use aimpoint, the slope grade numerics make calculating breaks a lot easier (do math, map to number of fingers).   While I certainly don't make every putt I look at, I have less anxiety over putts when I know I have the breaks read and I just have to worry about speed.

Books are awesome, though a bit pricey. 🙂

Thanks for your support of StrackaLine!  Our books are all about increasing your level of confidence to make more putts!

I have the Strackaline green book only and also the golf logix. Bot are only Lidar created as my course wouldn't pay anyone to set up lasers. Both books are good the only problem I have with the Strackaline is the information on the non heat green is so faint and small that is of no use to me. I simply can't read it. Golf Logix is easier to see. If I had 20-20 vision the Strackaline green would provide more information.

Hi Unibrow.  Thank you for the feedback!  In the case where we aren't getting out to a course to scan the greens on site, we are actually using photogrammetry (not lidar) where we subscribe to data sources that fly planes and collect topographical data from the elevation data contained in the pixels.  This is extremely accurate vs. Golf Logix which is getting the elevation data from satellite imagery which is not accurate.  We get complaints daily from ex Golf Logix customers who have seen several inaccuracies in their books who then switch to us.  So regardless of whether or not Golf Logix is easier to see, their information is not always accurate which is the most critical part of the books.

I have a question for the reviewers (and thank you for doing these).

Do you find the books slowing your pace of play as much as they do with the pros?

What is your approach with the book? Do you read the green with your eyes first and then go to the book or vice versa?

Do you find that you re-read the green after looking at the book?

I didn't find that this slowed my pace up at all. Mainly because I use my eyes and feet for the read over the yardage book. If I am not certain I confirm using the book, then I would re-read the putt after looking at the book.

I believe that they actually speed up my pace. I no longer have to walk around and observe different angles it's all in the book. I have the book out and orienting it when walking to the green. I have a basic read before even marking my ball, Fix my mark, take one more look then go. It has helped as I struggle to read subtle to moderate breaks, this takes the guess work out. If you are an excellent green reader maybe it won't help you as much, it has definitely helped me.

To StrackaLine:

- From Australia here, the international shipping fee is quite significant even after the discount ($75!). Is there an option where we can buy the green map PDF version delivered online only?

- I am not sure what the Instant Digital Option (for $99 per year) option is. Will I be guarantee that I have the green map for my course?

Some courses that I am considering to purchase:

Auburn Public Golf Course
5 Weymouth Ave
Auburn NSW 2144
AU

Massey Park Public Golf Course
Massey Park Golf Club
Concord NSW 2137
AU

I'd be very careful when working with these guys. I subscribed to their GolfNet app years ago, cancelled it and they continued to charge me two years in a row. I got one year back, in writing they said they would refund the other. I had to track Jim Stracka down on LinkedIn because no one would get back to me from the company.

Here's his response;

Hi Matthew. I had customer service cancel your subscription going forward. We do not do refunds. Thank you for your business.

Jim.

I’m part of this year’s current wave of testers and couldn’t be happier with the products (paper and digital).  Prior to receiving my StrackaLine book I’d played hundreds of rounds on my local tract.  But I never saw/read the greens the way I’m seeing/reading them now.  It’s almost like cheating. 😎

Dang, I didn't see this thread until just now and missed out on 25% discount. I just ordered a book few days ago upon friend's recommendation and it arrived yesterday. Very neat book and it will be handy for my tournament in few months.

Probably will order from them again.

Not one of the 5 members testing these, but a frequent user of Strackaline books (I like collecting yardage books from courses I play, so if the proshop doesn’t have any Strackaline is my go to).
really enjoy the books. The ones I’ve been given as official books in tournaments tend to be a bit higher quality than ones I order directly from the company on my own but 12 books in and none of them disappointed. One book had a couple blank pages, but I called them and they sent me a new one within 2 days. Pretty impressive.
