Hi guys - my back is buggerd up and so I have decided to take on p90x. I know my back only gives my trouble, when i get too fat and don't keep my core strong. I am 35lbs overweight, but still in okay shape, I can run 5k in 20 miuntes and swim a mile still. I used to do a triathlon a year and fo the most part I statyed around 20lbs less then I am now, so I used to working out with some extra weight.

My question is shoudl I try to drop some weight before I start p90x? or should I just jump in and go for it? I figure it would take my 6 weeks of clean eating and running to drop 20lbs, wich might be a good base to ashieve before I start.

My main goal is not about looking ripped, it just about begin healthy and fit (I am 37 now)

Just jump in and do it. If you can run 3 miles in 20 minutes you shouldn't have any trouble doing it. I've done it for about 2 months and I wouldn't say you will get ripped like the people on tv but, it does help keep you in shape if you have trouble accessing a gym.

Just do it. I was 35 lbs overweight the first time I did P90X and lost 30 of it in the 90 days An injury later and some real bad eating, lead me to another round but 60 lbs overweight. I've lost about 16 lbs since I started up again but my measurements went down about 10 inches the last time I checked. So no massive weight loss this time but I'm getting smaller and in better shape.

You will if you eat right. But I agree.....some of them probably went beyond 90 days which I am thinking about doing

I would just do it. Do it at your own pace like they say in the DVDs, you will know when you have had enough. Also, those people do/did more than P90x to look the way they do - the guy makes references to other programs here and there which I assume used heavier weight training. I don't know anyone who really got "ripped" from P90, though almost everyone I do know leaned out a good bit. I did it without following the diet and still lost weight, which was not my objective. I went to the gym on rest and cardio days for heavier weights; P90 is more focused on high reps rather than heavy weights.

Folks, I'm on my second week doing lean version and really sticking to diet. I'm managing ok bar re pull ups which need some work (only a couple unassisted!).

The problem I'm encountering is muscle soreness. I played golf today and was tight but the soreness has got worse and it's pretty uncomfortable. I have rounds scheduled tomorrow and the next day and I really am in a quandary as to whether to do the scheduled work outs as I think if I do my muscles will literally be too sore to swing properly.

Has anyone any experience of this or suggestions as to how I can do the course and play golf at same time???

Guys, can you do the program without dumbbells, etc, or do you need those as well?

You can use resistance bands instead. In each resistance workout, there will be one person demonstrating the proper form and Tony spends ample time with that person showing what to do.

Thanks, may have to give it a go in an attempt to get back to my playing weight in college!

Any of you guys getting P90X2? It's finally starting to ship. I decided to give it a shot but dunno when my copy will be sent.

I've been reading what people that got the first units have been writing and it sounds like it may be even better for golf. There is a strong focus on core stability and balance it sounds like. Supposedly the main goal is to improve your overall athleticism.

I've completed P90X twice. Now I'm working through Shawn T's Instanity. P90X is totally worth it. It's not easy; but they never billed it as such. I'm very satisfied with the results. I'll be getting P90X2 in the next few months. Looking forward to it. ouuu Pushups on medicine balls, my favorite. eeeek! :-)

My copy came in yesterday. My legs have been real sore from Insanity. So I decided to try out the foam roller. Talk about painful. It's supposed to be similair to a deep tissue massage. I've never had one so I can't compare. I used it again today and my legs were alot better. I only had a few sore spots instead of most of my quads and calves, like last night. My IT band on the outside of both legs is still bad though. So I think it's doing what it's supposed to.

I'm hoping to start up the program in January. Can't wait to see how this one works.

Oh, the program is alot different then P90X in the timing of things. 5 workouts a week with 2 rest days. Each phase is 3 - 6 weeks long based on what you feel like. Phase 1 is foundation and is supposed to help build your balance and stability to get you ready for the next two phases. So for me that phase could run long. It's an area I think I need alot of work in. Recovery weeks are as needed as well. So this program is more flexible then P90X. The calendar says 90 days but it's whatever works for you. The only thing is not to stay in the same phase for more then 6 weeks.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
