What age would you play Senior tees?

Only if the yardage difference is less than 300 yards.  See USGA handicap manual posting from unrated tees.

There is a chart in Appendix G of the USGA Handicap Manual that indicates the adjustments to be made if the difference in yardage is between 100 and 300 yards in basically 21 yard increments. It can be as little as .5 for the course rating and a change of 1 to the slope to as much as 1.3 in the course rating and 3 on the slope. If the difference is less than 100 yards no adjustments are necessary. Over 300 yards scores would theoretically be ineligible for handicap purposes.

 

Using your blue/white example, if you basically play the blues but move up on a few holes to the whites, you would calculate the difference in yardage and subtract the adjustments from the ratings for the blue tee. If conversely, you are playing the white tees and move back to the blues for a few holes, you would add the adjustment to the rating for the white tees.

 

Playing the same course every weekday we like to change things up and move up or back as course conditions or weather may dictate to get a change of pace. Theoretically, these adjustments are done by the handicap committee and local golf association but in a casual round you are basically the handicap committee and we have always felt that making the adjustments ourselves when posting scores makes for the most accurate handicap. Right or wrong, that is what we do.
