Push cart - ultra light versus ultra stable

Hopefully this is the right section for this.  I know I’ve had a similar thread recently and I apologize for the clutter but I feel like this is different enough o warrant a new thread.
I’m looking to get a pushcart and try to start walking.  I’ve got long-standing issues with my feet, the biggest being plantar fasciitis.  Recently some steroid shots have me optimistic that it might hold up to some walking with a pushcart.  I’m trying to make it as easy on myself as possible.  In addition to feet issues I’m also big time out of shape…

Anyways, do you guys that use pushcarts find that a really lightweight cart makes a difference or is it better to get a heavier one with more stability?  Do the wheels on something like the sun mountain speed cart make for an easier push?  I’m not worried about storage, umbrellas, or any of that.  Is a heavier option better than something like this?

You have the cart and bag/contents to work with.  It does make a big difference how much total weight there is.  I have Clic gear 3.0 and Wellzher TE Cart bag.  A buddy has a CG 3.5 and an Ogio Silencer (different openings then normal) with just about every accessory available attached.  There is a huge difference when I push his vs. mine.  I've lifted his bag to get in the car and it is significantly heavier.....I'd say 10#'s!

if you're going to be working on your stamina and relying on the cart for support - stability and solid construction are key points when you select any model.

flimsy is not your friend.

three wheelers are fine.

you need to be able to easily open and close it to get the unit in and out of your vehicle.

drink holder, umbrella holder - must haves.

test push any to see how they roll and be sure the handle has comfortable padding.

an area up top for small item storage is a plus.

enjoy and have fun.

walking the course is a wonderful experience.

start off with as many holes as you can until you build yourself up.

whether at a par three, the range hitting a bucket, doesn't matter .

every time out, you are getting the benefit.

hit a course. enjoy the fresh air.

My first cart was a two wheel ultra light pull cart. Got it off craigslist for like $10. Functioned fine, but I hated it. I found carrying easier at the time (early 20s).

Later I moved on to a Sun Mountain Speed Cart - which I also got used for a very good price. That cart has treated me very well for probably close to 10 years? Maybe 8. I don't remember exactly, but I still have it and outside of inflating the tires, it's fantastic. So much so that I asked for a the newest generation with solid wheels to replace my old one.

When looking at carts, I never saw a real advantage to the 4 wheelers. Mostly because I never felt unstable on my 3 wheeler. I looked closely at a few models that folded into a smaller foot print, but I don't really need a smaller footprint, and the prices and weight tend to go up with those.

I do prefer the larger front wheel. That bias has no foundation because I haven't used one with a smaller front wheel, but it just seems like it will roll slightly easier over uneven stuff and thicker stuff. Even muddy stuff. The bigger wider wheel just seems like it's going to glide over the top of things easier in my mind. Might not be the case in practice, but I wanted to stick with what I knew.

I also don't mind the weight of the Speed Cart + fairly light carry bag. Moves around easily, and is certainly easier on my back. I could see if I got a huge cart bag, added a seat and some other stuff, loaded everything down... it would be much less comfortable to push through a hilly course.

Overall all though, I think just go to a store and push a few around if you can. One or two will probably speak to you pretty quickly. Some people LOVE the swivel front wheel. Some love a super small folded foot print. Some live the ability to carry a golf bag + a full wardrobe, a boom box and 30 beers. Just decide on what you think you'll want most, and push a couple around. It'll come to you pretty quickly.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
