Are the Titleist 714AP2's one of the best players irons ever?

I had the AP1 714's sitting in the garage and decided to pull them and play a round with them. They are still in the bag and refuse to leave. Anyone remember the two A wedges in the set, 48 and 52*? I got lucky and have both. I really like the soft feel off the face, no explosions at all. Combined with a Chrome Soft they feel great! I went ahead and extended them a 1/2 inch to move the contact point. I really don't see these going anywhere. I really like the two A wedges.

Wow sorry you didn't find them to your liking as not every set of irons will give you that honeymoon feeling as I never got mine either as I had to get used to them as it took me more than just a few rounds but there was no doubt that the feeling was amazing during my 1st round. After that I realized I found the set that checked all of the boxes for me. If you were not fitted that can make a difference but no they are not for everyone but you will never know for sure after just a few rounds. Lucky for the guy who you sold them too

I was fitted but I hated the turf interaction with them. I guess I've been lucky over the years. It doesn't take me a long time to adjust to irons. If I'm not hitting normal shots or better after 36 holes chances are it's not the irons for me.

Interesting like I said they are not for everybody and lucky for the guy who bought them. Plus in time the ZX7 will take the throne as being one of the best players irons to date as I owned the AP2's in fact they were the only set that I had in steel and 1 in graphite. I need more forgiveness so for me and many others the ZX5's are the real deal
