Why did you change clubs and did it make a difference?

A couple of changes recently have really helped me improve.  I’ve cycled through a ton of equipment as I just love buying and selling and trying out as much product as possible.  
 

However, this is the first time in a while that I’m very committed to my bag, outside of a couple of minor changes still to come.  Which will be a different shaft for my 3 wood as the main goal.

 

Moving to the HZRDS smoke blue in my Tsi3 driver has been nothing short of amazing for me.  Also, after going through a ton of iron sets and buying the same irons multiple times, the zx7’s are firmly planted in the bag.  These 2 have me playing and enjoying the game more than I have in a long while.

I like to try different "feels" . Always looking for that solid forged feel with a bit of forgivness in an Iron set. 

 I've settled on iron shafts with SF 95cw (r) or fc90 (f3 reg) This seems to be the proper weight and profile for me as I've gotten older. I played 105-110g steel for about 10 years until around 2013 when I went to graphite. Playing Apex'21 now, which I really like,  after a short stint w/ '21 P790s and still have my Forged Tec Blacks (Which I love).

 I also like to mess around with putters, but now that I've been fit with tangible results (avg PPGR down 1.35), I think that I'll be thinning the herd there.

 Still on the lookout for THE Driver/ Shaft Combo. I get pretty good results from the G425 LST/Devotion combo, but I'm not a fan of the sound, so that hunt continues. Currnetly using a 2 year old Honma TW737 455 that I really like. Wondering what it would play like with the Oban Devo in it.......hmmmmm.

 As far as improvement of my game goes, Having clubs that I love the feel/performance of inspires confidence, which in turn lets me hit better shots, probably enhancing my scores by 2-3 strokes

I posted earlier about going back to Ping Eye 2's, but I should probably mention that I discovered the Ping g410 hybrids last year and they have made a tremendous difference in my long game.  They are just so much easier to hit consistently than some older TEE hybrids I had.  Then I went and splurged on a G425 Max driver.  The well hit shots aren't much different than my old Cally Epic Flash, but the poor strikes are night and day difference.  I have made a commitment to play this bag throughout 2022, which would be a record for me by about... 11 months?

 

Now putters... that's a different story 😇, I just have four or five that I really like and want to spend a little time with each one, is that so wrong?

Changed from forgings to game improvement irons, because I am now 62 and the old shafts were just too stiff. And the arthritic spine makes it so I never know which swing will show up day to day. Went to Carls Golfland for a fitting and it came down to the Mizzy Hot Metal and the Titleist T300.  Like the look of the Mizzys better, liked the higher flight on the longer irons on the T300's better. Only problem is I sometimes know I missed but haven't a clue where on the face I missed..... But the forgiveness is amazing. Yes, the change made a big difference because I don't pure the ball nearly as much as I did 30 years ago. LOL
