Can a legit scratch golfer with an professional athletic background beat a 50 something retired LPGA pro?

This thread reminds me of a time when I was in college and I asked out a girl in one of my graduate classes. She turned out to be getting her masters degree just like me and was a former D1 college golfer at Toledo or somewhere like that, my memory escapes me. I was a pretty serious golfer in my 20's and 30's and of course I spouted off that I could "beat her" no problem in a 9 hole match. Tough talk, hopefully she wouldn't make me back it up!  She told me to pick the course and she would beat me. I picked a golf course where I knew my inconsistent driving would not hurt me as much and where I could utilize my short game each hole. I also knew that this course was easy and she might destroy me. I was hoping that she had not picked up a club in a while. She was laser straight with everything, and I mean everything. I would beat her off the tee no problem distance wise, but I was rarely in the fairway. She never missed a fairway and rarely missed a green. Her putting was suspect, her weakness. Her game was kind of boring you could say, but it certainly worked. The course I chose was very flat and pretty much devoid of trees. We came to the 9th hole, a par 4, and I was 1 down and I really did not want to lose to her, she was really good.  She was on the green in 2, I was off the green in 2, so I had to get a par and she needed to 3 putt just for a TIE. I knew I could easily get a par., but I certainly didn't want to keep playing her on the back 9 because I was starting to fall apart a bit and she was starting to play even better. I told her to go ahead and putt out because I was going to one putt for birdie from just off the green (smack talking to get in her head, wasn't working). She actually 3 putted and she was super pissed. First time seeing her emotions on the course the whole round. I needed an easy par to tie her (she wanted to keep playing if we tied, not me!) and a birdie to win. I had a great line, was just in the first cut of the fringe and I rolled that baby straight into the cup for a solid birdie and I beat her by a stroke! Pure luck, she was the better golfer. We went out on one more date and then she never called me back. I am glad I have forgotten her name, but damn, she was a solid golfer.

Exactly. Nothing wrong (and lots right) with these threads as long as everyone is respectful.

Serious question has a man ever played on the LPGA ??

Actually, it's a Great question‼️

Yah, 12 men Played and one won~

The winner was none other than Sam🏌🏻‍♂️

The Royal Poinciana Invitational was Played in 1961 and 1962. The tourney was Played at the Palm Beach Golf Club on their par-3 course so as to take away any distance advantage that a male golfer might have, making for a more or less level playing field.

Though the tournament lasted only 2 years, it was an official LPGA Tour event. In 1961, the tournament had 24 men and women competing(12 & 12, so in the strictest answer to your question, yah, 12 men did Play in a LPGA event). That first year, Sam finished 3rd, finishing behind Dub Pagan and LPGA pro and future HoFer Louise Suggs, by two strokes.

In 1962, the format changed, as 14 LPGA Tour Players were invited with Sam being the only male player invited. This time, Sam topped the field, which included Future LPGA HoFers Patty Berg, Betsy Rawls, Kathy Whitworth along with the runner-up, Mickey Wright, whom he beat by 5-strokes.

Soooooo, while Sam is not the only man to Play in an LPGA event, one of his 82 Championships is as the only man to ever win a LPGA Tour event.

Stay Well SB👊
