What's the best golf book you have read?

I really enjoyed Michael Bamberger’s ‘to the linksland’ (oof, see the hardcover version is €300+ on amazon, i left my copy at our club with a bunch of other golf books for others to read, could have bought 10 new books for that price…)

Leigh Montville ‘the mysterious montague: a true tale of hollywood golf, and armed robbery’. title says it all.

and i’m currently reading Stephen Proctor’s ‘a long golden afternoon: golf’s age of glory 1864-1914’.

"18 In America", by Dylan Dethier. So good. Just before college, Dylan set out to play one course in each of the 50 states. Some courses were good, others not so much, but it is a great read. Since graduating college, Dylan has become a great golf writer. I admire the guy, not only for realizing his dream, but for getting a date with Holly Sonders.. It's in the book... 18 in America at Amazon.com

Good choice on "The Mysterious Montague", 84425!

I also read about this same guy in a featured article on Smithsonian (see attached) "Montague the Magnificent".

I was totally amazed with one of his exploits where he won a bet against Bing Crosby, the actor, by not using any golf clubs at all and instead bet Crosby that he could beat him wih just a baseball bat, a shovel and a rake in a one hole match.

He did just that, making a great scrambling Birdie on a Par 4 hole against a Par by Crosby!

Montague the Magnificent _ Arts & Culture_ Smithsonian Magazine.PDF 401.02 kB · 1 download                                 And last month, I finished a book called Harvey Penick's Little Red Book: Lessons And Teachings From A Lifetime In Golf. I needed to read a book and write a review for my literature course, so I chose a book about something I like. The book itself was great, but the writing was hard, and I almost missed the deadline. So when I understood that I needed help, I used https://edubirdie.com/essay-writing-help-online, and it was the best decision. I managed to send the paper one hour before the deadline and got a good grade. And when it comes to books, it's for sure worth reading.

I started reading "The Mysterious Montague" a few days ago, and I like it so much. Now I understand why so many people recommend it. And also I really liked Golf is Not a Game of Perfect book by Bob Rotella. I read it a while ago, but still remember how good it is

Also:  Titanic Thompson:  The Man Who Bet on Everything.  by Kevin Cook

It isn't strictly golf, but there is a lot of golf in it.  Thompson was an infamous gambler/hustler who played.  Great read

Must read that someday. In a similar vein:

’Drive for show, putt for dough’ by Leon Crump

all sorts of fantastic short anecdotes of a golf hustler

Zen Golf was a good one for me, made me realize it was better to enjoy the game then stress about it.

Zen Putting was not as good IMO, but the same type of message.
