US Jr. Am Qualifier

I caddy for my Godchild every chance I get.  We have a blast out there and constantly give each other grief.

You're correct on both counts!  My son, 15, played in a US Jr qualifier this week.  A high percentage of the caddies were teens including some younger Jr's who will likely be playing in the qualifier in upcoming years.  I think that's a great scenario.  Junior events with parent caddies can plagued with low morale and slow play.  I've caddied for my son twice over the past year.  Having had the benefit, as a spectator, of watching parents ruin the experience for their kids I just try to behave like a pro caddie......carry the bag, clean the clubs, provide the information and only offer input when asked.  That can be a challenge as a parent but I find the better and more importantly, happier junior golfers to be self reliant and not a puppet for their parents dreams.

Parents can definitely ruin the experience.   We were on the range at 7:30 am and hear a parent cursing at another guy.  Apparently, the parent was being really loud and obnoxious so another caddy politely asked if he could keep it down a bit.  The parent blew up and was ready to box.  Just amazing stuff.

wow ready to box, I haven't had the chance to witness or experience this but have heard this from many.

Back any scared animal into a corner and it will lash out. This is likely an issue where the parent knows or feels their kid is in danger.  Maybe not physical danger but in danger of losing out on an opportunity or being humiliated.

We had two girls from our club qualify for the jr. girls. They shot -3 at the qualifier to be co medalists. One signed with Va. Tech, the other with Wake Forest.
