Tour Edge Exotics E721 Irons. Anyone playing them?

Your E722 irons are the Game-Improvement version of the last series of TE Exotics irons. The Players Distance version is the C722. The C722 prototypes were played by Tim Petrovic on the 2021 Champions Tour at the September Ascension Charity Classic in St. Louis. The line came into retail this spring.

image.png.a7b75b38c324c3f51292d61955bb617b.pngThe  E722 features a 360° undercut cavity design to enhance launch, and has extra toe weighting to help "elongate sweet spot." The E stands for extreme forgiveness.

The C722 has hollow-body design with a narrower sole and thinner topline. The C stands for compact head.

Stock swing weight will vary as per shaft you choose. Both the C722 and E722 offer the same stock shaft mix, from graphite KBS TGI graphite at 50 grams up through steel Elevate 105X at 109 grams. The past few years, TE has greatly increased the variety of stock shafts.

If you want to see TE equipment in action, catch a Champions Tour event. At the February 2022 Chubb Classic, TE staffers Bernhard Langer and Tim Petrovic finished one-two (respectively). Two other TE staffers and three affiliates finished in the top 25.

Well, had my Tour Edge fitting. I was really set on the 2022 new C722 since I had already demo'd last years C721 irons. However, the looks and profile of the NEW C722 were drastically different. The C722 was shorter in length and narrower in sole and considerably thinner top line. Very much more of a player's profile compared to last year's C721.

Didn't hit the C722 very well compared last year's C721.  Did not like the looks of the E722;    Very thick top line, sole a bit on the thick side and considerably shorter blade length compared to last years C721.

What the heck, I demoed the chubby E722's. WOW !!!  HIGH trajectory, and carrying the         7 iron on solid PURE strikes 170. With range balls. Toe strikes were forgiving, 5-10 yards shorter. Couldn't quit hitting the chunky E722's. Must have hit a 100+ balls. AND they sounded pretty darn good. They added more technology in the E722.

I ordered GW thru 5 iron. Let the chubby girl swing!!!

  • 1 year later...

I know this post is a little late, but it does answer the original question. Short history, I have been a club builder for over 30 years. I’m 66 years old and play to a 10 handicap, but still shoot par a couple times a year. I have never purchased a new set of irons. I always bought ones a few years old, then I would tweak them to my specs (D3 Swingweight). Always Taylomade also. Speedblades have been my gamers for a few years. My boss got a set of Tour Edge E522 and loved them and I made up my mind to buy some new irons so I spent a couple weeks online learning all I could.  This last Wednesday I tried out a few Tour Edge clubs and settled on the E721.  Loved them, but they didn’t feel right when I was playing them later that day. I took them home and that night put them on my swingweight scale. No wonder they felt different. I got the 6-GW, and they ranged from D5 to D7.5. I later read their standard is D4.5 to D5, which is still pretty heavy for me. I took them back where I bought them and asked if they would sell me some midsize tour wraps at their cost, that I would fix the swingweight problem. They agreed and are now right on D3 after some butt weighting. Can’t wait to play them. Hope this helps someone. P.S. The reason I didn’t notice it when hitting them at the store was that I had just hit 16 balls with the hybrid irons with graphite shafts, so naturally the E721 with TT shafts was going to feel heavier.

FWIW I tried the E721 and they didn't work for me (super wide soles never have worked for me).  Tour Edge took them back for a full refund per their 30 day policy.  That was last year, this year I tried the C721 4-AW with KBS TGI 70 shafts and they are just about perfect.  Easy to hit, forgiving, and the shaft works for me.  I managed to break 80 with them for the first time in my life.  Bought them used (they looked brand new) from the Tour Edge CPO store for a great price.  Swing weights per my scale are all right about D3+.

I've gone to a mostly C721 bag.  The driver is fantastic as is the 3 wood and 19* hybrid, I also added an EXS utility 4 iron.  I'm amazed at how good these clubs are and that I never really heard much about them until last year.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
