How much do shafts matter in Ping Eye 2s?

I believe the tip to first step measurement is two inches shorter in the x100, compared to the s300. Not sure what your chart indicates.

It's frequency taken at different beam lengths five inches apart for each shaft, the beam lengths represented by the top row.  The weight used is 454g, IIRC.

The higher the number, the stiffer the shaft is at that point.

So a taper tip shaft that goes from .355 to .395 in eight inches is less tip stiff than one that does it in ten inches? Please explain.

I'm sorry, you lost me with that comment.

DGX has a shorter tip section.  The 11" beam length freq is 980 cpm.  The 11" beam length freq on DGS is lower, at 962 cpm.  Those numbers are demonstrating that DGS has a softer tip than DGX.

You agree with me; the dgs has a softer tip than dgx.

I'm a sucker for an Eye 2 thread.   Karsten Solheim was probably the first one to realize that the shaft matters.  I have a set with the ZZ Lite in stiff shaft and they are stiff.  Like really stiff.   I also have a set of BeCu Eye 2s with the microtaper, which is almost welding a club head to a piece of rebar.   The microtapers are stiff as a board but they play like a dream.

THIS!!  Loved the OG Microtapers!  Unfortunately I had a couple of bent shafts in my BeCu's, thankfully Ping reshafted them to ZZ65 before they ran out.  Fairways and Greens!!

I just reshafted my umpteenth set of Eye 2+ irons with MCS 75 graphite shafts.   They play just fine.  The ZZ Lite shafts are a bit heavy for my 70 year old body. 😉

I reshafted/refinished more sets of Pings (Eye 2 and +, Zings than I care to remember. One thing (with me) is I never had any issues pulling the heads. They broke free (without extreme heat) as easily as any irons I've disassembled. I tend to tell people to play the shafts that came from the factory...unless the player is ancient (*edit* Like me)and has a few joints and bones refurbished. Then it's time to consider something lighter/whippier.

Just checked the shafts on a set of Ping Eye2's I have - Cushin JZ Lite...all but the 1, 2 & Lob cuz I added them later. I thought I might have reshafted them, cuz I have a number of Ping shafts in my shaft container, however I'd just regripped w/Karma grips.

I will be shafting a Ping Eye2 BeCu (I think) 1 iron head w/a G-Loumis graphite/boron shaft...it has "4" inside a diamond. Not sure what that stiffness means. The grip on it is a Poulin grip, seems to be in very good condition. As soon as I prue the shaft, it'll be attached

How could I forget my beloved set of ISI Red Dot with JZ Cushin shafts. I did a bead blast refinish and fresh pant fill on then. Why did I turn them over? My "pimp" over at GEA told me I NEEDED his Tourstage Z101s if I wanted a REAL set of irons. I sold the ISIs. Bought the Z101s. I hated those beautiful irons. They hated me. We had that in common.
