Daytona Beach golf

No offense, but good luck in that price range. Even mediocre courses are charging more than that unless it is late afternoon. It is getting pricey around here.

The LPGA courses are usually nice. Halifax plantation in Ormond recently re-did their greens. Haven't played it in a while, but if the greens are good, it is a solid track. Palm Harbor golf course in Palm Coast is a fun track. Greens relatively slow for the area, but rarely in bad shape. Shotmakers course.

There is a course I can see from I95 just south of Daytona that looks nice, but never played it.

Good luck.

You can play the Arthur Hills course at LPGA International after noon for $63. The Jones course at LPGA is $71 afternoon.  IMO the Hills course is more interesting than the Jones course. The Jones course is more foregiving. Click on a photo to see photo tours of the courses. If you don't mind playing a course that's a little rough around the edges conditioning-wise, try Deltona. It is a great layout and well under $60.

Riviera CC in Ormond Beach is the place. Total throwback, opened in 1953 and pretty frozen in time. I think their top green fee is $51.60.

I am going to play my first Florida round after my move at Palm Harbor Golf Club next week.  It has been a while since I have lived at sea level and played golf as a resident.  I will miss the altitude of the front range of Colorado and the low humidity.  I will learn to adapt to both.  Here's to golf on Bermuda grass!

Bumping this thread back to the top. Coming down to Daytona Beach in late November for a week. Hoping to play 3-4 rounds when I’m here. Looking for some courses to play. I’d say budget $50-$100 per round, would pay $150-$200 for a special course.  Willing to drive up to 45 min to an hour.

Priorities for me are courses in nice condition, fun and interesting (but not tricked up) designs, and not overly tight.

Staying less than 10 minutes from LPGA, definitely plan on playing at least the Hills course, as Arthur Hills is one of my favorite architects. Should I just play all of my rounds at LPGA? Or venture elsewhere. Also, and privates worth trying to get on?

Best practice facilities?

Thanks!

Anyone ever played Venetian Bay? It's not far from where I'm staying.

I've played Venetian Bay a couple of times in the last few months.  The course was in good shape and I enjoyed the layout.  It's pretty forgiving off the tee on most holes.  I understand that they have new ownership that's put some money into it

+1 for Venetian Bay. Both times I have visited the New Smyrna/Daytona area I've played Venetian Bay, and it was fun.

Also I've played Crane Lakes, Hidden Lakes, LPGA International, and Spruce Creek. All fun tracks in their own way.

I just played Spruce Creek for the first time and it was a lot of fun.  We had a plane fly over us coming in for a landing on the 9th tee box, which isn’t something that happens too often during a round.  I’ll be checking out Cypress or New Smyrna the next time I’m in town.

Enjoyed 2 rounds last week down in Florida. Played Venetian Bay, and I would say overall excellent! Course conditions seemed okay, not amazing (don’t have a lot to compare to) with greens on the slower side, but very good value. $51, with great service from the time we pulled up until the time we left. We let a group of 3 play through our 4 on the 5th hole, but other than that didn’t wait all day, and no one else within a hole behind us. For the value and service alone, would definitely go back.

LPGA hills the second day. Course was in great shape. Got out early solo, didn’t see another person in front or behind all day, finished in just a tad over 3 hours, and I wasn’t playing super speedy. Definitely would like to go back there.
