4 wood 7 wood shaft length/tipping recommendations

Need some help deciding if I want to get my 4/7 wood length at something different (or maybe the same) off of stock recommendation? (titleist fairway woods 16.5 and 21, recommended at 42.5 and 41.5)

I'm assuming always easier to start long, like 43/42, and then see from there by choking up or what the swing weight is and from there start cutting?

Also how do people usually tip their 4/7 wood? I'm currently gaming a driver diamana pd 6tx not tipped, swing weighted at d2.5, length 45.25 love it, and got a 7tx 8tx on the way and spec sheet recommends about .5/1 inch it seems, is that the goto?
https://forums.golfwrx.com/topic/1636176-my-moi-iron-build-thank-you-howard/

in the same vein of thought I saw something about MOI iron build and was wondering if there was any merit in making sure my woods are also similar in swing weight?

thanks for any input!

I personally play my woods and hybrids shorter as they are too long stock IMHO for accuracy. Tipping is a personal preference, I start with MFG recommendation which would tend to be .5 and 1" for your 4/7 (3/5) respectively. For a stock shaft I do choke down a bit and add a little lead for normal playing (aka I am too lazy to pull grip and cut it).

For my woods/hybrids I simply play them where they feel OK (do some powder testing): the iron MOI build I did is for the irons, woods and hybrids vary more in terms of model/shape etc...in my set.

The PD is exceptionally stiff and CPM out 280+ for TX flex.  I had the 70TX last year and also went untipped.  You should be fine going 0.5 in 4 metal and 1 inch in 7 metal.  My set up goes driver/0.5 inch, 3 metal/1 inch, 2 hybrid/1 inch.

Swingweight at C9.

Not superfast driverswing 105mph but my fairway woods in shorter and lover swingweigt is a Rocket from Tee and Fairway. No problems hitting green from 250 yards 3-Wood.

What I mean is everyone experiences differently what works, when I played these D2 I had problems with them. But when it was shortened and the swing weight changed, these became the favorite clubs. I'd rather hit a 3-wood / 5-Wood to the green than a 5-iron

Better change the last sentence as two folk on here will state you’re in cloud-cuckoo land. I do find it strange a 2 SW affects you though but that’s life.

I'm not an MOI expert by any means, but I did go down that rabbit hole. Look at your woods as one group of clubs for MOI / shaft weight class / length, etc. Then look at your irons as a unique group of clubs, then likely keep the wedges as another grouping.

YES thats how we most often does it in MOI matched bags, so the OP should tune up one of those woods, without thinking of numbers as all. Simply use lead tape and dial in the right head wgt thats works for YOU. If you now want a short cut to make the other Wood to the same MOI value (if you swing them equally, its a good idea), then you can use the formula "1 inch play length difference = 1.33 SWP". Longer PL = SW goes down 1.33 pr inch , Shorter PL = SW goes up 1.33 SWP pr inch

is moi matching = SW matching?

Dont just go blindly by length recommendations as each OEM has a different length spec.

Titleist for instance as you've pointed out is already 'short' at 42.5 and 41.5. Thats what I play my 4/7w at and I consider that under length. For example Callaway and Taylormade are both 43" for 3 and 4w IIRC and 42.5" for a 7w.

I would recommend tipping based on the SHAFT MAKER's recommendation and not what the head maker company does as a baseline. If you feel you differ from the baseline - as shaft tipping is extremely personal preference - you can do more as you wish for less launch and spin and stiffer tip feel.

We can use the SW scale for that, and thats why i gave you the offset factor to get there using that instrument.

I'm very sensitive to swing weight and 2 points definitely affects my delivery into the ball.
