Someone needs to bite the bullet, I’m just bummed they are 5-pw.  If a set of heads comes available I might be too tempted.

Ha. You’re right. Always enamored with Bridgestone irons. Have owned J40 DPC and CB, J15 DF, J15CB, Tour B X-CB and Tour B X-CBP. Liked every one of them. This new series looks great even if you don’t really see them in the U.S. I always like to have a set of Japanese forged irons around. The other one that has caught my eye is the Fourteen TB-7 (forged by Endo at their Thailand plant.) Saw those in person and they are stunning.

You and me both, right now my stable includes J15DPC, Miura CB-1007, and Fourteen fh1000.

Knew the first two, just looked up the FH1000’s. Those look nice.

I ended up finding a set of 222’s in a suitable shaft for me.

First impression, they are compact.  From memory they are much smaller than j40 dpc and by my eye they are even yet more compact than my J15 dp irons.  I was on the fence about 221 vs 222, I think I am on the 222 side as they are plenty compact and clean.

I have the Nippon 105 shaft in the 222 and they play very similar in feel to the Nippon 125 I have in my J15’s, just feel ever so slightly lighter overall, but from a swingweight perspective still feel substantial.  The irons perform well, they feel soft.  Plenty forgiving.  My only criticism is they feel muted towards the toe, which is my miss, so i had a few where shots felt dead and flew dead but there were some that felt dead and flew like a champ. I only have 27 holes with them in 50 degree and windy weather so I need some more time with them.

Do you think the 222cb+would be a suitable replacement for my J15DF?

I don’t have direct experience with the J15DF irons, I have the DPF and they are very similar.  Some have compared them to the J40dpc, from an aesthetic standpoint I would agree, but they are more J15 than J40.  The J40’s were stupid easy to hit and soft, IMO.  The 222’s feel softer than the J15 but aren’t as easy to hit as the J40’s.  I have another 72 or more holes in with them and they are staying in the bag.  The lighter shaft and 1* stronger lofts are welcome.  I can make a decent swing and they do what I need, I can make a good swing and they do basically what I want, I can make a great swing and they do exactly what I want.

I briefly considered 221’s, but I’m glad I got the 222’s instead.  They are a good mix of compact and forgiving.

Anything new on these.....Anyone playing them?

Still playing these (222+) and not planning on switching.  They are easy enough to hit and they aren’t too big in my eyes.  Anything specific you are curious about?

I’ve enjoyed them, I go back and forth sometimes and I have always come back to them.  Just much easier to swing and get the results I want.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
