I think I like the look of the i525s more based on initial pictures but worried about lower launch and lower spin as I am already a low ball hitter.

With the caveat that I have not hit the i525, I would note that most comparisons online note that both launch and spin are lower than the i210.  0.7' launch, and 1170 RPM for a 7i, in the linked example.

Well now that the i230's are released I would say the i230's especially if your coming from the i210's. I'm not switching from my i525's as these have been my game changers as there is nothing out there that could pull me away from them except maybe the i230's.  They check all the boxes for me. I'm not say they are the most forgiving, best feeling or longest but Wow! I'm very pleased with my purchase as I think PING makes some fantastic equipment. Some may say the i525's are more forgiving for when they have been compared to the G425 irons in terms of forgiveness that say's a lot. I could easily settle for either and I often question myself what if the i230's were released 1st would these be my game changers. If I lived where I could play almost all year round I would have an extra set of PING's and they would be the i230's.

That’s because the lofts are stronger on the i525. If the lofts were equal, you’d have similar launch and spin.

From the article I linked, the loft difference in the 7-irons they had their pro hit was 2.5 degrees (33 vs 30.5).

1170 RPM seems like a lot to lose for a 2.5 degree change.  Shrug.  Maybe it is just loft, and a 210 7-iron bent to 31.5 would behave the same as a 525 head weakened to 31.5?

One of the clubmakers here---I want to say Howard---had a handy rule of thumb for what you could expect from bending X iron 1 degree this way or that.  It was something like: 'drop launch 1/2 degree, gain 1.5 mph ball speed, lose 250 rpm or so.'

Losing 450 rpm per degree sounds like a lot to me, but maybe that's what happens?

Also thinking of upgrading to the i525s from my Ping ie1 irons. Similar upgrade considerations of either going to the i525s or the i230s, but with age comes loss of distance and the i525s might fit the bill better.  I'm planning to demo them in the coming weeks if possible and see how they perform.  Not a long hitter but am straight with my irons so this might be a good option.  Probably will consider a mixed set, similar to current setup, with GI irons at the top too.  Curious what people think about the i525s overall as they seem to get very good reviews.

I was able to test the i525s over the weekend at the range. Found them to be closer to the i59s than I had thought and the appearance was a little too blade-like than my current ie1s.  Not sure this is for me, but may test them again against the i230s.  The i230s look more like my clubs and are a little bigger with a little bigger top line too which is appealing.  Seems like Ping has set up these clubs i59-to-i525-to-i230 with thei230 being a little more forgiving.  Although I'm a Ping loyalist I may also try the Srixon ZX5 irons as well.  A little disappointed the i525s weren't as good as I had read, at least for me at the moment.

ie1's are the sleeper of the last few releases.

Trying to see what you landed on?  Speaking for myself as an owner of i210’s I opted to blend my set with 5,6 and 7 in i525 with retro lofts to complement my i210’s in 8-UW with standard lofts.  The loft gap  between the 7-8 is 4.5 which I may have to fiddle with but I’ll wait till spring and see whether or not it’s really an issue.  I’m thinking Ill  get a bit more forgiveness now in the longer irons while maintaining that club head feel I like so much in my i210’s.

Agreed - Kind of went under the radar..... Find them more forgiving (especially on toe strikes)  than the recent releases such as 210 or the 230. Maybe feel is a smidge below those 2, but I have played these on and off since 2017 and they are super consistent in distance control.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
