Foresight GC3 Setup

I recently got a Foresight GC3 launch monitor, and am having trouble getting accurate readings indoors. I have tested the unit outside on both the range and course, and the distances are correct (confirmed with rangefinder). When inside, however, carry is maybe 25-30% short.

 

Has anyone experiened something similar with their GC3? I appreciate that maybe my indoor swing isn't as free flowing. But the yardage difference is very drastic.

Indoor swing syndrome is a thing but it could also be your mat. Have you tested the launch monitor outdoors off the same surface? Some punish fat shots less/more and others can be lower spin. An easy test is to tee it up low so the turf isn't a factor and see if that improves the reading.

Highly likely this is the case. The foresight units don't care if you are inside or outside.

 

Should be easy to figure out via ball speed and club speed

Indoor swing syndrome has nothing to do with the launch monitor, it's the effect being indoors has on one's actual swing. I was swinging almost 20mph slower with driver when I first built my indoor setup even though it felt like I was swinging full. Took a few weeks to get back to my full swing and even then I noticed watching video that my takeaway tends towards being flatter indoors than outdoors.

You have a GC3 and you didnt include swing speed in your post. Is it changing? Inside vs outside, swing speed wont change unless you are physically swinging different, ie. what @Bubbtubbs is saying.

Clubhead speed with my 6 iron is around 95mph. I confirmed this outdoors with the GC3. When indoors, it dips to low 80s. So I'm not moving nearly as fast, even though it feels like I am.

 

Nonetheless I was curious if maybe the lighting or the mat (https://www.allturfmats.com/product-p/tt4860gbt.htm) were contributing at the margin, given how drastic the differences were. As @Bubbtubbs suggested I am going to test it out with a low tee

Yes to what the previous commenters are saying.. takes a while to trust yourself to deliver a full swing indoors. Once you do… it’s a lot of fun.
