I was so impressed, because she looked so comfortable winning, and seemed so greatful,

not like it was owed to her. She's a Lady.

its funny I doubt that Beth meant it as and insult. For Annika it was a long time between LPGA wins

Β

Just the same competition considered she has to be the best ever on the LPGA in my opinion

Β

I look forward to seeing how she does this year agains Lorana and Suzanne it should be a great year on the LPGA

Here here; Even Peterson in her post round interview said she was really glad to see Anika back. Honestly it would have been a little tragic if she hadn't come back IMO after being THE dominant force on tour for so long. I'm just hopeful her health can stay in good shape to allow her to play as long as she likes competitively and go out when she wants to. Looking forward to many bouts between her and all challengers.

Annika's win at the SBS is a testament to how good she really is and why she is the BEST EVER! She recovers from injury and comes away with a victory. I see Annika taking back her No.1 ranking again and having a HUGE season.

Β

I predict 7 Wins 2 Majors.

Β

You could see the passion and fire return in her eyes during her post round interview, she convinced herself that she still has complete control and confidence in her game and is ready to mix it up.

Β

Annika makes the LPGA so much more exciting and fun to watch not to mention I love her style of play.

Great win for Annika (really not taking anything away from her as she's one of my fave's) but it sure would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they didn''t penalize Park two strokes for slow play when there was nobody behind them. :coolpics:

I guess the LPGA is trying to set an example. Someone had to be the sacrifice. There was a recent interview on The Golf Channel with someone from the LPGA and she mentioned that they would be monitoring and penalizing slow play. It's on their radar, and now we know it. (Which is actually good for golf, no?)

Β

But it definitely sucks for Park...

Β

IIRC, Dottie Pepper said the officials stated that after receiving a warning, Park exceed the time allotment on 3 (consecutive?) shots.

Β

As for "no one behind her" (something I thought about too), although she wasn't slowing anyone else behind her down, she may have been slowing down her playing partner. Moreover, it wouldn't really be fair to make everyone else play at a certain pace, and then allow the last group to take as long as they wanted. It might be considered an advantage. I think you have to apply the rules uniformly.

Seriously why is slow play on tour bad for golf in general? I do not understand the logic of this how fast or how slow the tour plays does not affect me at all

It affects me when I watch. It affects me when others playing in front of me copy what they see on tour.

Maybe it doesn't affect you, but I do think it affects me.

I hope this trend continues, and that the PGA adopts it as well. They gave her a warning, and she was over time on three consecutive shots after that. So she broke the rule four times. Where she was on the course is irrelevant, rules are rules. Warnings are meaningless if there are no consequences for not heeding them.

Β

This isn't directed solely at Angela Park and the LPGA. Langer, Day, Harrington, Crane, and the other slowpokes on the men's tours need to get their butt in gear as well. The most effective way to do this is to penalize strokes if the rule is repeatedly broken. If it decides the outcome of a tournament then so be it. They have caddies that carry their bags, yardages from everywhere are already mapped out, caddies/marshalls/crowds help them find wayward balls (how many balls are lost, not many), they have played at least one practice round, and they are pros who get it around in 64-74 shots. There is no reason for a twosome/threesome to take 5+ hours, none. Slow play is unfair to other players and is bad for tournament organizers and TV.

So what were all the other ladies doing when Annika was in the lead of the other 69 tournaments she won ?

Β

Fixing their makeup ??? :coolpics::partytime2: :black eye: :clapping:

Β

I stand by my comment. Annika often won with a great score in the final round, she didn't have it handed to her. Tiger has often won majors and other tournaments by shooting at or around par in the final round. The rest of the leaders would then proceed to throw up all over themselves. How many times have Ernie, Phil, and the other "contenders" done this?
