So basically the same as his mallet.  Maybe it’s the archer

I don't think his ballstriking helped with the putting mind... but he did miss a few that he would expect to make so its a work in progress!

I read on here a while back that he came up with “SSS” so people couldn’t stamp a “G” in front of “SS.”

No idea if it’s true but I guess it makes sense to protect your magic German steel. 😜

Every media outlet reporting that this circle-t was his middle school gamer, yet I’m certain he was using a retail SC special/studio select when he played in the Wyndham at 16-years-old. Considering his relatively humble upbringing, I highly doubt he had a circle-t that young. His dad was a club pro, not a tour staffer with circle-t’s laying around

If he was a good enough player he could have been "given" it by the Scotty - they do that for young up and coming players that are good enough or have some serious connections. Not saying your wrong, but you don't need lots of cash to score one if you are good enough or have the right connections.

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
- Lord Tennyson

Look up any pic of JT in high school and it shows him using a select. And I understand that kids with connections/money can get their hands on a circle-t, but I can assure you SC isn’t gifting personalized circle-t’s to middle-schoolers.

I mean when I played Jr golf there were circle Ts everywhere.. People would buy them, get gifted them by tour players/reps, and I feel like they were even rarer back 20 years ago when I played Jr golf.  And these things cost a few thousand, if your son is the best Jr player in the country and he wants one, even on a humble salary without connections, it’s still doable.

Who knows what he actually played with in middle school, probably a lot of stuff, but I don’t think the story is out of the question at all

Circle-t’s everywhere in jr golf? Sounds like a bit of an exaggeration but, alright, maybe I’m wrong. I just remember JT using a otr newport during the Wyndham at 16 years old, and a google search will confirm that.

And again I understand if we’re talking top high-school and college amateurs, but middle-schoolers? I’d still venture to guess these reports about him switching to the putter he had since middle just mean he’s going back to a newport-2, but not the same exact model. And why would he be using a retail select in HS if he had that badass circle-t since middle school?

I even remember Spieth explaining his experience at the Cameron studio in high school, and that Scotty wouldn’t give him the GSS model he wanted and so he settled for a Newport 1.5

The story about it on the Tour website actually has Thomas saying "I probably got in in High School".
