“They all know how to save weight where they need to”… doesn’t mean anything. It’s all relative to what each OEM is trying to accomplish. Saving weight to to make it forgiving vs saving weight to make it lower spinning. It doesn’t equal more sales or better product. We can act like the 2nd tier OEMs in the driver market make great drivers EVERY season, but it’s just not true. Why would Kisner not put the driver in the bag? Why aren’t we seeing larger numbers of non contracted players with Wilson drivers in the bag? They just don’t have the firepower to compete.

Mizuno and Tour Edge are quite a ways behind the others in market shares of driver sales. Mizuno is now moving away from a new driver every year and going to a 2 year cycle. It’s just sustainable for them to try to improve every 12 months.

A tour player should 100% play the best driver possible, they are independent contractors playing for livelihood and the expenses arent low.

With that said, Wilson could still have some marketshare with a driver that's inferior to lets say TSR3, but better then a Callaway Hyper Flex. It all comes down to pricing. They are pricing themselves into a level that requires big expectations, if the price was lower, the expectations would be in a place they could exceed.

It doesn't come down to pricing though. It's about performance. Majority of golfers would have little issue paying $50 more for a driver that clearly performed better. You also run the risk of putting your own product in the "lower tier" simply by putting the price lower. Consumers are not easy to please. If someone sees a driver that is $100 cheaper and it's Wilson and then sees the new Callaway or other OEM, some will pass on the Wilson out of assumption it's cheaper because it's lower quality etc.

The bottom line is it's a number of factors that require a lot of time and money. It needs to look the part, play the part, feel the part and have the history of performing products to earn larger market share. It's taken Cobra a very long time to get its name into the conversation with the BIG FOUR even though they've had performing products at good price points for a while. They also had drivers that flopped after great performing drivers. It's not an easy task to take on the big OEMs with drivers. That's why you don't see many boutique driver brands out there, but there are plenty of boutique iron brands.

I was in a PGA Tour Superstore yesterday and the Wilson drivers didn’t even have the security buzzy things on them while used Callaway, TM and Ping drivers do. Guessing they are not as concerned with theft of these drivers vs. big OEM drivers at a much lower price point.

he played Stealth 2 for two weeks and likely had his two worse driver rounds ever. His stats plummeted. G430 was in the bag last week, also a horrible tournament.

Wouldn't be shocked to see the Wilson in their soon, it is getting very strong reviews. Wilson is 1000% on an upswing right now
