Desert summers. I can relate. I experienced 15 of them in 3 different states. It's a long haul for months until it's over.

Still beats cold as frickin' sh*t every time. 🙂

Golf didn’t work out this weekend, fighting off a pretty ugly stomach bug, and spending some time with Son #2 who had his 14th birthday on Friday when we picked him up from camp.

 

Made some real progress in a reading project I’ve been working on for a few months. I have about 400 pages remaining here out of 3000. I am floored by the level of scholarship, the amount of effort that went into this work, and frankly the importance of these three volumes. Absolutely remarkable, I have learned far more than I expected, and my expectations were high. Brilliant.

So I have been kicking around the thought of buying an older set of irons.  Really just a knock around set to change things up at the range.  Maybe even use on the course once in awhile.  I was looking for a true set of blades and just wasn’t finding anything that caught my eye.  So I needed to get a club regripped, so took a drive to PGATSS.  While I waited, I was looking around and found these.  4–PW with KBS 90g regular shafts.

Same answer until October - damn hot! I’ve been power washing the exposed aggregate decking. Taking a break in the shade, where it’s a good 20° cooler than out where my practice area is! Waiting for the sun to go behind the trees before washing that area.

Hot and humid.  I actually think I would have preferred hotter temps and sun, versus the high humidity while cutting the lawn.  Felt like I had 5 pounds of sweat on my shirt.

No golf this weekend.  It's only 86F today, but it's supposed to hit 100 on Tue and Wed - triple digits is fairly rare here.  Forecast for where I'm playing on July 4th (annual 4-player scramble) is 105 but, theoretically, we should be out of there before it gets that hot with an 0800 shotgun start.  Unfortunately, no Stan's donuts as they're closed for the holiday.

 

I decided to detail the exterior of my Hyundai Kona since I hadn't washed it in almost 18 months - I use a bunch of detailing sprays in between full washes and that's for a car that's parked outside.  I started at 0630 to try to beat the heat.  Wash with Dawn, clay bar, polish, sealant (I prefer Jet Seal), and wax.  I would've liked to have used my dual action polisher, but I didn't want to wake the neighbors, so the polishing, sealing, and waxing were all by hand.  Thank God the Kona is small-ish and it's just low enough that I don't need a step stool to work on the roof - still preferred working on my old, lowered Mazda3 hatchback.  LOL.  Finished right at 1000.  

 

I was reminded yet again that I did not do a very good job of applying the ceramic coating in some areas after I bought the Kona 3 years ago.  There are "rainbow" spots which are the signs of uneven application and I'm still having a heckuva time removing all of them.  I thought I got all of them last time, but I found some more, got rid of those, and then found more when I was buffing the wax.  I was too tired at that point and will leave them for next time.  No one looks that closely at a Hyundai anyhow.  LOL.

... Exactly why I am having professionals ceramic coat my GV60. That and I don't wanna put in the work. 🤪  Speaking of Hyundai's, my 33yr old son is still driving my 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan with over 100,000 miles on it. Told him I would split the cost of a new SUV Hybrid of his choice and since he is a big boy at 6'3" and 230 looks like he has settled on the new Sante Fe Hybrid LTD which is around $50k. My first brand new car purchase was a Mazda 618 and I don't remember the exact price but it was under $1,500. It cost $1800 just to add AWD to the Sante Fe LOL.
