Funniest thing, one of the first gyms I joined was one of the first small gyms catering more to real lifting in the small towns in my country. 
 

Little place, up a set of stairs, we lifted summer there junior year for 🏈. 
 

Two owners, one looked like a not as big version of Terminator Arnold and the other was the spittin image of Huey! 🤣

 

He smoked all this weed in his office too!

You know who was obsessed with Eurythmics?

 

Japanese kids!

 

There was this little college near my town and in the summer, all these exchange students from all over the world would come and study there.

 

They would all go to the same bars we would go to in the summer. So one night there’s like 10 Japanese students, guys and gals, all drinking like crazy, speak no English at all but very chill. 
 

And then Sweet Dreams comes on and they all start bobbing up and down, all got cigarettes hanging out of their mouths, singing the lyrics, was awesome!

... Right there with you. There is great music from every decade. Of course we are all products of our youth and whatever music was popular at that time. I was just lucky enough to be young at the right time. Going from every possible musical instrument and the most wide variety of exploritory sounds to the same synth-techno-pop just makes most of the 80's something only a teen could love because it brought us tons of these:
