Visiting Austin

A buddy and I are looking to play in Austin on a Friday in mid-April.   We are staying in the Rainey street district.  Any recommendations for a high end public or a private course that may allow us on with a call from my Ohio club pro?  I am not sure that even works nowadays.  Thanks!!

Definitely try to call Austin Country Club. Not sure how hard it is to get out there with a call from your pro but I was there for the match play last week and it looked phenomenal.

Zero chance of getting on that way unless you belong to a very exclusive club. ACC has way too many members, and they limit the guest access significantly compared to other clubs in the area. I have had luck at Barton Creek with my pro calling. Foothills or Canyon course are both great.

Thanks for the advice.  We ended up playing Foothills and had a blast.  For the weekend we played Lost Pines (Wolf Dancer) since we had a conference there.  I understand they changed the back nine to make room for an expansion.  With a couple of 250 yard par fours it was no comparison to Foothills.

I just played 14 holes of Riverside. For a municipal course it is pretty nice. The greens are meh but I love the layout.
