Will be in Nashville in a few weeks, looking for very good possibilities. Can be public or private if they allow my club pro to get me a tee time. Would drive hourish from Nashville if it’s worth it. Also not looking at sweetens or sewanee.

For public options... I'd look at Hermitage (2 courses), Gaylord, and maybe Greytsone (about 30-40 mins outside of Nashville). You have all of the city munis as well, but those are a step down in quality/conditioning.

There are a lot of different privates in the area at various levels. It would be hard to make a recommendation without knowing the level of club you're currently a member of. For those I'd look at...

Tier 1 - GC of Tennessee and Troubador (probably aren't getting on either of these)

Tier 2 - Hillwood CC, Belle Meade CC, Richland CC (maybe if you're a member at a really upscale club where you live)

Tier 3 - Brentwood CC, Westhaven CC, Vanderbilt Legends Club, Nashville Golf & Athletic Club (maybe if you're a member at a nice, mid-level club where you live)

FYI, unless you are wiling to play any day / time (meaning you take what they give you and you don't get to choose) then I wouldn't bother with trying to have your pro reach out to private clubs.

Thanks. The tier 3 I don’t think would be a problem, I’ll have to look into those.

Legends Club is having the practice area re-done.  Not sure how big of an impact that is on the whole driving range and practice area or if it is just the end/areas that Vandy golf teams have access to.

I wouldn't think getting on the South Course there would be an issue.

Saw it this past Saturday. The driving range for Legends is 160yd irons and below only right now.

Here to vent my annual frustration about Nashville Metro courses and how you (1) cannot make a tee time online, (2) cannot see course availability online, (3) and cannot make tee times as a solo.

It's not even summer yet, and I've been turned away twice as a solo in the past two weeks because the wait times were over 1.5hrs, and one of these was on a weekday (not Friday).

Access to golf in Nashville is a real problem unless you have $$$$$ to join a private club.

Out of curiosity... Are you telling them you are willing to pair up with another group (any group of 3 or less), or are you trying to only play as a single?

It's hard for me to believe a city muni would be booked solid with 4somes all day long during the week, but I have no first hand experience trying to play them so I could be wrong.

Always willing to play with others. I tried at 1:00 p.m. this past Sunday (over 1.5hr wait for a solo to join others) and tried at noon on Monday at a different muni course with over an hour wait.

Gotcha. The Sunday makes sense. I mean what course wouldn't be busy on a Sunday afternoon in May. Not sure about the Monday thing.

Honestly though a 1 - 1.5 hour wait doesn't seem like that long for someone who just showed up wanting to walk on especially on a weekend afternoon.

Maybe you could look into joining some sort of league, or perhaps talk to people at these courses and see if there is a regular group of people you can start playing with? Seems like all of your issues would be resolved if you weren't solo.

I ended up playing the presidents course at Hermitage on Sunday week and a half ago. No tee time and walked in and had 3 options to join another group….I’d guess the lower priced options are extremely hard to get on even as a solo walk on.

I know Hermitage allows a solo to call for a tee time (not online). Does anyone have any idea if you join Hermitage whether they allow a solo to make a tee time online (and see the available times)? Thanks!
