I finally meet another Zen putter lol....  I used to use the typical method of aiming to a spot after reading the putt from behind BUT my body would override the point I was aiming at and hit higher or lower automatically without even thinking about it so I learned to get the heII out the way and just trust the intuition.  So I dont know my line till I'm standing over the ball ready to hit then just pick speed for that line.... peace brother ✌️

... Can I get an amen! The times I drop a ball on the practice green and start putting just to loosen up and get a feel for the greens without actually "reading" the putt and it goes in or comes close is just off the charts. The power of our mind is pretty limitless if we don't get in the way. Obviously on the practice green warming up I have no pressure to make a putt so the mental and physical freedom to just let it go is an awesome thing to remember on the course when it does count. Contrast that with those I see over analyzing and agonizing over a putt or even worse, those commenting they will probably 3 putt and then doing so is pretty amazing.

Here's the thing with Aimpoint vs "zen putting" 

 

With Aimpoint, I know exactly which way the putt is going to break (left or right; uphill vs downhill). When I miss it's a matter of under/over playing the break which can vary based on a misread (maybe it was 1.5% instead of 2%), bad speed or a bad stroke. 

 

With "zen putting" and "imagining the line", there are times when I swore a putt was going to go left, but instead went right. Or even worse, a seeing a straight putt only for it to have a large bend. Standing there trying to envision the way the ball is going to move is just total guesswork (for me at least) and results in made putts being more about luck than skill.
