I made a putter

Here are a few images of a putter I recently designed and got milled. I really like the raw milled stainless look and overall, I'm quite happy with it, but I've learned a lot of lessons and plan to make several changes next time around. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Looks nice! I had a carbon putter of my own design milled a while ago and it was an interesting experience. Did you have yours done locally?

It cost around $300

Thanks! I did not, I reached out to a few companies in my area but none were that interested or had quotes that were over twice the price I ended up going with.

For a first go it’s solid.  My suggestion would be to focus on area where bumpers meet the rest of the body.  Softening and blending those areas would make a big difference.  Did you sand the head after milling or did they?

I was going to say, it could use a lot of softening, but it is a great start.

Thanks! I did't touch the finish and my quote has it at Ra1.6 if that helps. Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to make those inside diameters bigger next time.

Great work! Agree that with a little softening on a belt sander it would be even more money!

Nice job!  Did you build it to fitted putter specs or just likeness to OEM, Anser-style putters you have used?  Any plans to add some knurling or other cosmetic features?  And of course the BIG question, how does it perform?

Should have been able to get 1.6 off the mill vs hand sanding it all over, would have been nice if they at least kept passes all moving in same direction.   Did you use Xometry?

Yeah doesn't bother me too much because I'm so new to this stuff. I didn't use Xometry, I went with RPM Fast on a recommendation from a friend. If you are willing to share a shop you prefer feel free to pm me!

Thanks! I used a bit of both. I knew the loft and weight I wanted, and I put myself in the general range for toe hang. Then, I used other putters to influence and guide my design. I do plan on adding face knurling and a traditional plumbers neck piece in the next version, and hopefully weight ports farther down the line. It feels good, but not great. It's not as soft as I would like, but I hope to fix that in the next version!
