Using a 4 or 5 wood as driver alternative instead of mini driver or 3 wood?

That is a fact. Just two weeks ago I was ashamed of my score, but not because I was putzing around. I hit a lot of great shots with my irons and had fewer mishits than at any time in the past year. Yet, the driver degraded because of likely poor practice routines. I had something like 20 added strokes, most of them 2-Stroke Penalty/Rehits, all because I had no sense of control off the tee just after a "year's best FIR." Something got in my head, and that was that. (It probably was my ego after the last round LOL)

I had a lot of great recovery shots to limit the damage, but frankly those two strokes murdered my score every time.

You get what you emphasize, I guess. I worked hard on the irons, and then the D through Hybrid clubs suffered. So, I didn't at the time have the freedom to just change; but at least that seems to be over.

Still, I find that while the short game is where most strokes are gained, people tend to underestimate the impact of a bad D-Game.

I’ve been struggling with my driver as well.  I’ve resorted to using my 2-15.5 degree hybrid and a 3-19 degree hybrid off the tee box.  I’m finding the fairway but with less distance.    Earlier in the season I was bombing my driver.  Golf is like a toilet seat…. There will be ups and downs.  We’ve all been there….I guess I should go get a lesson. Lol

Same here with the up/down process.  As of today, I'm hitting BOMBS with my driver, but can't hit the broad side of a barn with my wedges.  Last time I played, I counted 9 of the 18 holes with crushed drives down the middle, but yet I would ruin the hole after hitting some embarrassing approaches and wedges.  Earlier in the year, when my painful shoulder and lower back was killing me with pain, I couldn't hit the driver to save my life.  my strengths and weaknesses tend to show up based on how my body feels on a particular day.  I am consistently inconsistent.

One of these days all facets will work (T game, irons, wedges, putter) and we will rejoice and love the game.  Until then its try and scrape and claw your way to a respectable score.  I usually can determine which part of the game is taking the day off and try to avoid it as much as possible (unless its putting, then it gets ugly).

I had Ping G430 Max 3W, then swapped with G430 2H-17* and G430 4H-22*. It fits perfectly with TM BRNR at 11.5*. They are all more versatile in my game than the woods.
