Holderness and Bourne size gap

I wear a medium in most polo’s, Peter Millar, Vineyard Vines, Straight Down, etc… I own 1 Holderness and Bourne polo and was about to snag 2 more today, but forgot how snug they are in their mediums. Tried on larges and they were far too baggy. From what I can gather, they cut their smalls and mediums more form fitting and their large and XL’s with a fuller cut. It seems as though this creates a pretty large gap in their sizing between M and L, almost to the point where they could do a M/L size like Stitch. 
 

Not sure if others have found that to be the case, but figured i’d share my findings from the day. That is all, thanks and make lots of birdies!

In my experience, I agree.  In H&B, Medium is slimmer fit in the midsection and armpits compared to Peter Millar, Footjoy, Johnny O, Greyson, ect.  Large fits similar to the others in those sections, leaving a gap.  
 

The medium is borderline unwearable if I’m going to be moving around, especially when sweating, mainly due to the tight armpit area.  Midsection doesn’t bother me as much, but still doesn’t look awesome with a budding dad belly, kind of accentuates it, but not uncomfortable.

 

The large fits decently enough, slightly smaller than the other brands.  A little too much room in the midsection, but not too noticeable as long as it stays tucked in.

I find the Peter Millars, foot joy, Johnny o’s to fit larger than size. Mediums in H&B are a perfect fit imo.

I agree.  I feel like the Greyson Medium has "drifted" a bit larger over the years.  B Draddy, Kjus, and H&B mediums fit similarly for me.

Agree with the gap between medium and large is too big for me (medium is 21” across and large is 23”).  Peter Millar classic medium is usually perfect for me at 22”.  The HB large could work untucked for me if it was a tad shorter (such a long tail) and the sleeves were cropped up a couple inches. I love the quality of the polos but find my self not wearing them as much due to how baggy they are in general outside the chest width.
