Bought some Mizuno Supers

I posted these in another topic about 1993 clubs and was getting a decent amount of replies so I started this.  Don’t know much about them, curious about feel with double nickel plating.  Heads appear a little larger, might be pics and shafts might be too stout for me based on recent comments in other topic.  Not to crazy about model name, lol, but I’m all in at $270 for this experiment.  I purchased them from Japan seller a few days ago and they won’t ship until next week supposedly.  Here’s the kicker though - the same photos below were used by 5 different sellers with different pricing.  I let seller know that I was purchasing irons in photos with no substitutes, we’ll see how this unfolds.

I can’t be sure, but the S in the square logo was used on my older Speeder shafts, so that leads me to believe the shafts were made by Fujikura. Hopefully someone can provide info, but these are the most interesting MP irons I’ve seen. Can you post more pics of playing position and sole?

Thanks for info/interest.  I don’t have irons in hand, pics are from eBay seller.

Had a set of Mizuno TP-Z irons (similar to Grad MP) with those shafts, they were quite stout in feel, yet dispersion was very good. The 7 grade was in between stiff and extra stiff, not as stout as in Yonex ADX tour like Lefty and Scott Hoch played, but close. The S (for shaft) logo is basically a quality inspection certification common in Japan market.

Regarding the same pictures being used by multiple sellers, that’s pretty common over there as well as certain shops “partner” to move inventory through a membership/distribution network to get more exposure than would otherwise .

Hit a set years ago of another Mizuno model (which escapes memory at  moment) with the double Nickel plating on a Mizuno Yoro shop special order set and was duly impressed.

Thanks for all the info, sounds like the shafts will be too much for me at age 62, bummer.  I’ll have to find some replacements if the heads impress me.

Do you think those shafts would compete with today’s offerings like Recoil, Steelfiber, etc?  I don’t have a shaft puller so I won’t hesitate destroying them unless there’s some interest which I doubt.

Got irons today.  Want to talk about fast shipping, okay.  Ordered clubs on eBay last week and seller said they’d ship on Monday.  Monday FedEx shipping label created, Tuesday Japan FedEx picks up item, this morning clubs showed up at local hub and delivered before noon, crazy!  Anyway, took irons to range and heads felt sweet, maybe I’m biased because most of my life I’ve played blades.  The shafts however are beasts for me.  Took 3, 5, 7, PW & SW to hit.  Found myself hitting 3 & 5 irons fat off the mat (my Ping Eye shafts are around 80 grams and these are 100+, guessing though).  Really didn’t have no business trying a 3 iron since I carry a 7 & 9 wood to cover those distances.  Going to play clubs tomorrow with real golf balls BUT I already know the shafts ain’t going to work.  I don’t think I’ll reshaft because I’m getting lazy these days with repairs at my age, still regrip my clubs though.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
